Classic? Usage Tipno 10.3 with 2.1 - Version: 2.1, 11/8/2003 03:46PM PST

Lil GTO
Oh well - I should hvae listened to my own advice and waited for an official statement of support or release of new version. I installed v2.1 under OS 10.3 and all I got was a continually respawning Dock and Menu bar, had to use fast user switching to log onto another user name to restart the system in order to clear it. - only rating this post as not recommend for 10.3 - I used it for a long time under 10.2.x without problem.

Classic? Review10.3 ? - Version: 2.1, 11/8/2003 03:29PM PST

What about compatibility with Mac OS X 10.3?
I have been trying to determine compatibility with 10.3 on each item before installing it and in some cases it has been difficult to find info on developer's web sites regarding 10.3.

+ other registered users are very happy. There is nothing Classic? does that can do anything to your system, files or icons. it would seem you have some underlying hard drive issue. Classic? does little more than provide a handy interface to the same functions found in the System pref pane as well as reflect the status of the Classic OS. If you like you can contact our support team to check further where the trouble may be from.

it is just me but my X ran smoothly till I gave Classic? a try. Restarted and that's when hell broke loose, some tool bar icons where gone, system folder screwed, icons looking genetic, etc,etc .Thanks to DiskWarrior got X back in shape, Classic? in my Trash and my feline lived happily ever after.

The icon appears in Dock after rebooting. However, it is non-functional. I use OS 10.1.4.

page: "Q Can I / Should I install "Classic?" if I have Classic OS 9 installed more than once on my Macintosh? A It's not advisable at this time. We have not fully tested this situationnor understand why many would even do it." [sic] I think this is a lamentable position for this company to take, especially since, unless you dig through their website before you pay for the software, you don't find out about it until after it is too late. How can they claim not to understand why someone would have multiple copies of OS 9? This is not an uncommon or arcane strategy. Perhaps they are as lazy when it comes to coding as they are when it comes to proofreading their web page. Classic suppression is great, but this is, in my opinion, one of the most overrated applications for OS X.
