OS X user would do *almost* the same thing, but when documents are created, the group privledges are set (by default) and all new users are assigned to the same group, so anyone (including the newly created user) could delete and/or change the files/folders on that drive. Also, by giving access to the Finder, you are allowing anyone to launch any application on the Mac volume that you may want to have restricted access to. Most people would not know how to set up a detailed user/group scenerio to keep individuals from accessing certain applications or modifying documents.

this sounds like a good utility, quite possibly worth the $10.00. In OS X, however, it's simpler (and cheaper, and more efficient) to set up a user account for young children and leave the dock in plain view for them; they will not be able to mess around with the system, and will be able to save and open only their own documents. Few people have so many children's OS X applications that the dock would prove insufficient, no?
