LightWayText ReviewIt gets better... - Version: 4.1.4, 6/7/2004 12:42AM PST

...and better. For relatively simple jobs that require mixed English and Japanese, I recommend LWT to students and others. Unfortunately, the lack of footnote/endnote features limits its utility for doing academic writing. I hope these features are added soon! I know, this application started life as a text editor (and a very good one at that) which suggests that footnotes and endnotes should not be expected, but it has since evolved to being more of a word processor.

This is a very clean and efficient bit of programming. It works very well and the macro features remind me of the best of TexEdit (which is really good!).
It handles and saves documents with 2-byte characters (Korean, Japanese, etc.) without a problem (unlike mellel!) and the price is good.

I look forward to seeing what else happens with this software.

LightWayText ReviewSo fast... - Version: 4.1.1, 11/11/2003 02:03PM PST

Something has to be said for the fact that this is BLAZINGLY fast. It is the anti-Word... zero bloat. In an age of inefficient programming and high-level APIs, this is one program that truly keeps it real.

This version gives a good RTF compatibility. I have seen the windows beta version and now the .lwt format convert italian accents between mac and windows... wonderful!

There are still some little problems here and there, a problem in SED find\replace using paragraph longer than 2999 characters, a not perfect justification, and I hope the osx version could support the quartz antialasing fonts before or late.
But -anyway- this is a really good word processor for writers, I use it everyday and it is my favourite one.

I can use my old duo 33mhz under system 7.5.5 to write formatted files, connect it with my imac macosx to continue writing and send the file to a windows user, without lose time to convert file from a format to another... there are not so much word processors that can do this... and not for 25$!

A good job, I hope to see soon the windows release to sugggest my friends to buy it too.

LightWayText Reviewa good word processor - Version: 4.0.4, 5/17/2003 12:39AM PST

lightway is a simple but powerful word processor. I usually write with my old powerbook duo, with my imac and sometimes with a windows nt system. Is really good to have the SAME word processor working with 7.5, os X and win nt, sharing files without strange conversion or loosing data, for 25$.
There are some bug here and there, the typing feedback on my duo is a little slow in long paragraph, and the win beta has some problem with italian accents, but actually I have a real good vibe working with it, and there is a good feedback from yumiko if you email him the problems you meet.

And this is a good text editor too.

be more a lightweight word processor than a text editor, and might be quite useful as such, but it will not import or export RTF files.

my day that AW and BBEdit do not. 'Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.'

for another $30-$40 one can purchase AppleWorks... I have no idea why all this proliferation of text editors. What we need is a freakin' competitor to BBEdit, something all Cocoa n'all.
