Product Description:

OpenAG/OpenAG X is an unofficial unix/MacOS X client for the AudioGalaxy File Sharing System. OpenAG focuses on speed and portablity, boasting the fastest connections and downloads of any satellite. OpenAG is available as Aqua app, command line app, and library. See readme for features and more info.

What's new in this version:

  • Updated to latest version of libmp3info library, fixing several bugs and memory errors

  • Added GNU Autotools support and ported OpenAG to over 30 Unix/Linux/BSD-like operating sytems!
  • OpenAG has now moved all files to sourceforge.net, including Bug Reporting system.
  • OpenAG X has been localized to German, French, Japaneese, Swedish, and Italian -- REMOVED from default distribution.
  • Completely redesigned project directory structure to allow for easier future growth.
  • Completely redesigned OpenAG's usage of "strings" to handle different file systems, encodings, and languages.
  • OpenAG now handles Strings properly, fixing crashes when downloading files with ü, or î or ó etc.
  • In-appliction search function now properly handles special symbols.
  • OpenAG X has several new toolbar icons thanks to Sascha Muellner
  • Clarified many error messages.
  • Shares are now properly resent as "new" when moved behind OpenAG's back to different shared folders.
  • Now handle when files complete with more than expected data, or when the connection drops with almost enough data.
  • Added back the frequently requested Temporary Download Files Folder, removed Hard Coded Addresses support.
  • Fixed default download folder from ~/Library/Documents/iTunes/iTunes Music/ to correct: ~/Documents/iTunes/iTunes Music/
  • Fixed several bugs in the Resuming code.
  • Fixed "bad login" error message to be more helpful, including adding "Not a gold account" message support.
  • Fixed several memory leaks in code added in the rush to 1.0 (still two smaller rarer ones, pending fixes).
  • Fixed "cycling bugs" causing OpenAG to occasionally constantly re-connect.
  • Fixed "transfer ready" message being sent twice for incoming connections (Thanks D.C.)
  • Fixed sending of incorrect (incomplete) status message after being asked to stop a non-existant transfer. (Thanks D.C.)
  • Fixed handling of "bad start signals" from buggy peer-clients, now just drop the connection correctly.
  • Lots of other bug fixes. Thanks to all those who submitted bug reports!

sad day that AG went down. OpenAG X was a nice mac client for the service. I cant find anything that compares. For anyone that buys into the record industries boo hoo about music pirating read this story http://www.salon.com/ent/feature/2001/03/14/payola/index.html When you put money down for good music it most likely went to NSYNC's Payola Budget.

AudioGalaxy has been murdered by the RIAA. Although OpenAG was a great program, I think now would be a good time for the developers to transfer their talents to some other project where their rights will be more respected.

it certainly is a CPU cycle burner. Constant 60% CPU load on my Dual1GHz; thats by far too much!
