This is very sweet and solid. I have all the other high priced writers, but this gives you just what you need for everyday use. Nothing fancy, just all the right stuff. It's also very fast. I stumbled on this at the guys site. This version here is 3.1.4, but there is a 3.1.5E version on his site.
International Support Somewhat Lacking

I was able to select a Welsh keyboard layout while running this app but could not get the Unicode Welsh characters to appear. (I tried the same thing with Norwegian and had no problem.) Someone suggested below that this was because it was written to Carbon APIs (in RealBasic?) rather than Cocoa, but Carbon has the Multilingual Text Engine (MLTE), which, as I understand it, handles international text just as well as its Cocoa equivalent.
Other than that, this looks like a decent and well presented app, considering it's freeware.

Since this is not a Coco app, the support for unicode is inherently limited. Not all characters can be entered. Therefore, for serious unicode and multi-lingual work, one must stick with coco apps.

This remains my all time favorite word processor. It is FAST, versatile, and stable, and this improved version is very welcome. I have used MS Word for years, but now only grudgingly use it on a few things where I truly need some of its more advanced features. iText Pro is what I prefer to use on a daily basis for almost all that I do.

remarks! I personally don't need Word's advanced features, and a simple copy/paste into a Word doc does the trick just fine! It's a cherished application for me!

the iText freeware at version 3.0.1 and upgraded to iText Pro shareware at version 3.0.2. I have used many word processors, and this is by far my all time favorite for everyday use. Though the documentation certainly still can use improvement, the program itself is fast, versatile, and convenient for many projects using both text and images. I personally still have a need for MS Word, but much prefer using iText where their is not a need. There are some features I would certainly like to see added, but the worst deficiencies that existed in the previous version for OS X have been well addressed. I highly recommend it.

get it! This TextEditor is absolut incompatible. Nobody (than us MacUsers and even not all of us) has this Editor. I don't write just for myself, so I need something that can export to "normal" formats like RTF. Nice to have some poppy colors, but thats not the point for me. And whats wrong with TextEdit. Expand it with WordService and AntiWordService and you can format textlines, characters into marginals etc. and even read Word .docs. This App is not more than a lollypop. Sorry, just one point for the freeware, not more cause they want to sell the shareware product.
