Product Description:

The Apple menu is the single most missed feature of the Classic Mac OS that was never fully implemented in Mac OS X. It is true that the dock does most of it, but many functions such as folder browsing can be painfully slow. Mr 9 menu is a tiny and completely harmless application that places an icon in the dock. Clicking the icon bring up the Classic Menu bar for instant access to the old Apple menu. Optional methods include "Access box", which displays a tiny clickable icon just beneath the Blue Apple. "Needle",a strip 100 pixels high just below the Blue apple is designated as a "hot area". The application also provides instant control over the Classic environment, launching, status check etc. Mr 9 Menu comes with no bells or whistles as it was designed to run on a minimum of space and memory. Not even code for registration or demo limitations were included so this "pay-if-you-want-ware" comes unlimited and fully functional.

What's new in this version:

Due to overwhelming feedback it is now possible to choose between Access box, Hidden, or Needle via a new Preference panel. The user can select not to be asked every time the application starts up. Some improved code. Version 1.3 features some code updates (Jaguar) and a new icon.

Mr 9 Menu ReviewIf I used… - Version: 1.3, 11/9/2002 03:11AM PST

WhiteDog
Classic this would be a useful tool as one of the reasons I don't use it is the difficulty of getting back into the Classic work space after inadvertantly clicking on the OS X desktop. Because I find this, among many other things, so annoying, when I need OS 9 I boot into OS 9. Three stars for being a good idea, even if I don't use it.

still use 9.22 for a variety of reasons: the one listed below, the fact that many apps still are not Jag compliant or even available, and last but not least, I have no desire to spend another 2 grand upgrading all of my software at once. kapeesh?

Mr 9 Menu CommentaryYes, believe it… - Version: 1.3, 11/7/2002 06:40PM PST

or not, lots of people still use Classic because some companies (e.g. Macromedia) haven't carbonized all of their apps yet (e.g. Director).
