Product Description:

DropCompress is a very simple app that gives you the functionality of DropTar, but without the price tag. Drag files and folders that you want to be compressed to the icon in your dock or applications folder and watch them quickly be compressed for transfering over the internet or for backing up important information.
Two compression formats are currently supported: tar-gzip and zip. Switch between your prefered format via the Preference menu item under the DropCompress menu. Drag as many files or folders that you need compressed at one time and watch them shrink serially.

What's new in this version:

  • New icon (thanks Bart van de Biezen!)
  • Completely rewritten in Objective-C
  • Launches substantially faster
  • Displays names of files currently being compressed
Internationalization English: Me Dutch: Bart van de Biezen Japanease: Takehiko Hatatani Other: Maybe you?

for this app. It works perfectly every time. I use it to zip folders of JPEGs, and it never has any trouble. I like the new option drag idea - I'll download 1.4 right away!

use it to archive OS9 applications, it'll destroy them. That's basically it, since almost no file formats still use the resource fork. If in doubt, test before you delete your originals.
