Adobe Photoshop CS3 CommentaryAdobe Help topics for any CS2 application no longer available - Version: 9.0.2, 9/24/2008 12:37PM PST

Hello,

I recently needed to access the "Help" tutorials for one of my Adobe Creative Suite CS2 applications.

I selected the appropriate entry from the "Help" menu.

The application "Adobe Help Center" launched. I selected the desired software product entry from the dropdown menu under "Product Help".

After selecting the CS2 software program the "Adobe Help Center" indicated the following error message:

" The topic you want to view applies to a CS2 product you have not installed. - OK Button "

???

Same result for any other Adobe Creative Suite CS2 application I have selected from the dropdown menu. I can see the topics on the left window pane, however I am not able to access any of the topics since I always receive the error message:

" The topic you want to view applies to a CS2 product you have not installed. - OK Button "

I have the entire Adobe Creative Suite CS2 installed on my machine. I just don't get the point why the "Adobe Help Center" application does not allow me to view and read the topics. I mean, what are help topics and tutorials for if a user is not able to access or read them? Right?

Do I have to re-install the apps? Is the "Adobe Updater" the cause for not being able to access any of the help topics?

I remember the time, where all major help topics were accessible by launching the default web browser application. This was much more customer and user-friendly.

Adobe Photoshop CS3 CommentarySudden problem with Photoshop CS2 and Silverfast AI - Version: 9.0.2, 8/12/2008 06:23AM PST

mediaVinci

Hello,

I have made a scan in Silverfast AI 6.4.4 by using the Adobe Photoshop Plug-In several minutes ago. Everything went well. After my second scan however, Photoshop CS2 suddenly indicates the following error message.

" Not enough Memory for Prescan left!"

There is enough memory left. Has anyone a clue what could be the cause for this sudden error message in Adobe Photoshop CS2?

I have already re-installed the software by using the "Administrator" account on my machine. The scan works if I work under my "Administrator" account.

However, Silverfast AI fails if I continue to work under my "Standard" user account.

Hmm ...

Adobe Photoshop CS3 ReviewBUYER BEWARE. CS3 DOES NOT SUPPORT CASE-SENSITIVE FILESYSTEMS - Version: 10.0.1, 6/4/2008 10:05PM PST

I bought CS3 specifically so that I could move to Leopard. Well, I moved to Leopard this week after a hard drive crash. After spending three days installing apps and getting things back up and running, I got to the very last app, Photoshop CS3, and it refused to install, basically telling me that I have to reformat my hard drive just because Adobe couldn't be bothered to actually test their software on case sensitive filesystems.

It would take all of a day of developer work to fix all of their problems. Hell, I could write a script that would fix their code automatically in a few hours. As such, this puts Adobe's level of ineptitude even greater than that of Microsoft.

Mac OS X has supported case-sensitive boot filesystems since 10.0. Adobe has to be the most incompetent software company on the planet. Even Finale works on case-sensitive HFS, and that used to be about the buggiest app I'd ever used.

Adobe should be ashamed of themselves, and I want my money back. Biggest waste of money I ever spent.

Adobe Photoshop CS3 CommentaryTruncated and corrupt vertical color scale in the color picker palette - Version: 9.0.2, 2/19/2008 12:00AM PST

Hello,

I have noticed that the vertical color scale in the Adobe Photoshop color picker dialog box often appears truncated and corrupted.

I have not noticed a similar effect as long as I am working in offline mode.

I am using Adobe Photoshop CS2.

Does anyone have a solution or any advise for this problem?

Adobe Photoshop CS3 ReviewCannot Install On Case-Sensitive Disk Format - Version: 10.0.1, 2/3/2008 12:00AM PST

If you installed Leopard using the HFS+ Case-Sensitive volume format, you'll be unable to install Photoshop CS3. Your only option is to reformat your system volume. Fortunately, I don't have an urgent need for CS3, so I'll just go back to using CS2.

Adobe Photoshop CS3 CommentaryStill not a proper Mac OS X application - Version: 10.0.1, 12/5/2007 03:35PM PST

Since Adobe forced many of us to upgrade to Photoshop CS3 through broken functionality in older versions, you'd think that the CS3 would be perfect.

It works relatively well and has better functionality, but the simplest of things is still not right. When the application is/should be idle, it takes 3-5 % CPU. A proper application should be using 0 % CPU when it's not actively being used. You'd think after 5+ years waiting for a proper Mac OS X application and the grinding of teeth to get them to provide a an Intel processor-compatible version and the money involved in so many upgrades, they'd do things correctly.

Perhaps in CS11, they'll actually do the right thing but since they have the industry handcuffed to their products, I'm not going to hold my breath.

Be advised that if you're still on Photoshop 7, don't use Leopard. Photoshop quits on startup now.

Why does Adobe make it so tedious to get to and download updates? I had to sort through at least half a dozen web pages to get to the download link. It's really a nuisance.

Adobe Photoshop CS3 ReviewVery good product - Version: 10.0, 11/16/2007 10:02AM PST

Photoshop CS3 was recently purchased as part of the Master Collection. It is version 10.0. None of the problems mentioned previously ('scratching' hard disk noise when saving sounds like other problems).

What I do wonder about is why I would be required to pay an additional fee to upgrade to 10.0.1, especially after having bought this fairly expensive package so recently.
