after reading the feedback I went to their site to get the free trial.

So far I have tested Ciel and EBP, which are both total crap to use. SAGE is too expensive -15,000 Euro!!!
(mouseclick for every line you add, no shortcuts - drives you nuts)

So I need an alternative that I can adapt to the accounting numbers used here.
Now these guys let you fill in their form to add you email adress to some SPAM database and that's it.

Because then you come to this dead link.

Conclusion: There is no try before you buy.
PLEASE do recommend a usable acoounting/invoicing/ordering system that works.
It does not have to be freeware. It doesn't have to look good. BUT it must be functional and allow for imports and exports to databases.

MyBooks ReviewMyBooks Pro is Good. - Version: 6.0, 9/28/2003 10:23AM PST

I sell and support so I am biased a bit. But I have converted MYOB, QB, Flexware, Peach Tree, Great Plains users to this system. This is not your typical off-the-self software. It complies to GAAP accounting. It has true serial number processing, true inventory, kitting, a BOM add-on, a Job Cost Add-On, A Work Order Add-on, complex pricing and commissions, etc. It runs on OSX, Linux and Windows Servers and with a mixture of Linux, Windows, and OSX Clients. With OSX/Linux, you get remote access right off the bat. No 3rd Party SQL licenses, no 3rd Party Remote Access Tools. The screens can be modified, reports modified thru Authorized VARwho have source code. This software is based on running businesses that focus on procedure and true accounting checks and balances. You can have multiple companies, multi-whs, consolidated financials. Yes it does require some PROFESSIONAL interaction with a VAR in a lot of situations (modifications, custom add-ons, etc).

It sounds like the comments above are suited for small operations and so is MyBooks. However, MyBooks Pro is $800 10 users serious business Software that can grow to hundreds of user and large databases in the 100's of thousands of records.

Immediate gratification in software is easy with nice screens and marketing. Serious business workflow and accounting requires a bit more participation. This does the job. It requires a bit of effort and commitement by a serious business that is serious about workflow and a package that can be tailored, modified, to react to the business' operations.

I purchased this software on a whim, for a steep $100. What a WASTE OF MONEY. I should've downloaded the demo first, and then I would have quickly and easily determined that this software isn't worth using for a drink coaster. The interface is clunky and unelegant, the performance of the app (at least on the Mac) is abysmal, and it's FULL OF BUGS. I've essentially determined that I can't use it. I spent one full day trying to get the program to do what it said it could do, and what I wanted it to do, to no avail.
