AJJXI am still trying to determine if, especially, Intego TEXAS is composed of the biggest bunch of rude crooks I have ever encountered or not.
Pure evil? Read on to discover what else I think.
I recently emailed INTEGO regarding PROBLEMS with Intego NetBarrier X5 software, etc., and have yet to get a response. I even emailed the corporate headquarters in France and they do not even, it seems to me, have decency and respect enough for their own customers to respond to issues.
These are the same Intego software problems that I attempted to address with Intego suppport a month ago.
The so called "fixes" Intego support(Texas location) gave a month ago simply wasted my time. However, I did not contact Intego again until I did more "research". I have now done that and can not escape the conclusion that Intego NetBarrier X5 software is the problem.
Yet, apparently, and somewhat confusingly, Intego support(Texas location) has proven itself to be, probably, the worst such "so called" software support representatives I have ever had the displeasure of speaking with.
I have more than one email from Intego support(Texas location) where they have simply sent me the WRONG or incorrect information. I am not even the tech support guy, yet Intego's glaring error was obvious to me.
On another occasion I called, after losing 30 something hours of sleep trying to resolve problems created by Intego's apparent ineptitude or incompetence, I am not sure which, and an Intego TEXAS representative told me, in response to my very specific description of the NetBarrier X5 issue, that "something must...went HAYWIRE". Can you imagine such a statement from someone who has the audacity to call himself or herself tech support???
On 2 other occasions, including the FIRST time I ever called about the NetBarrier X5 problems, I kept calling and asking for Intego tech support Texas location and it was literally hours after Intego tech support was supposed to be on duty before, apparently, Intego Texas' "so called" tech support finally arrived. I am still scratching my head wondering if Intego Texas tech support EVER gets to the office, or whatever they might be using as an excuse for one, anytime earlier than 2PM. ?
I ATTEMPTED to explain, virtually step by step, the Intego NetBarrier X5 issues and how I know the problem is the Intego software yet Intego support, either, interrupted me, or never let me give the details, with statements that make no sense to me whatsoever. For instance, statements LIKE...we do not have an owner or company executive and...if your Leopard version is 10.5.4 or 10.5.5 then you should not expect Intego software to work.
Just today I ended a telephone conversation with Intego representatives(Justin, Joel; Texas) who indicated they have NO OWNER or SUPERIOR. ????
I feel very strongly that Intego has revealed itself to me as a horrible software company and I can not quite escape the conclusion that I am somewhat obligated to inform consumers virtually every chance I get.
I can not remember a time when I have spoken with software representatives, like those I have spoken with at Intego TEXAS, who have such extraordinary ENMITY toward the very consumer(s) who buy their products.
I plan to make my feelings clear at every opportunity to do so that presents itself. In other words, use firewall and antivirus but NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, use Intego products.
Are there a bunch of crooked creeps at Intego TEXAS? I think you might have just read my mind!
How could I feel otherwise? What possible opinions and conclusions, other than the ones I have expressed here, could I possibly arrive at?
Particularly disgusting is the fact that Intego TEXAS tried to convince me that my computer has "SERIOUS" problems. The serious problem on my computer was Intego NetBarrirer X5 after a "so called" filter update.
While it was on my computer after that update it crashed(kernel panic) every 2 days like "clockwork". After various SPECIFIC means of troubleshooting to further pinpoint the issue, including running Leopard and the offending software from external volumes(hard drives), I have not had one single crash(kernel panic) SINCE I REMOVED that "so called" updated Intego software.
Am I still running a third-party firewall, then? Of course I am. I am also running antivirus. I am just not running Intego.
...use firewall and antivirus but NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, use Intego products. That is what I say.

UnHappy 13NetUpdate is what started it all. Once all the programs were installed I tried updating the definitions.
The first update went fine without a hitch. However, I was not able to update anything after that.
I wrote to the company numerous time, with generic replies. I tried everything their so called "Tech Support" offered without any success. I began wondering if their update program is such a failure
I wonder how effective are the rest of the programs.
If NetUpdate is any indication of reliability than I'm uninstalling all of their programs.
In all fairness, I have not run across any other problems with any of the other programs, but is they
can't get their own updater to work properly than what else is getting through that I don't know about??
I have not seen worse Customer Service than I have with Intego. Once they know you have a serious problem and are unable to offer up any real fixes, all communications stop.
I am eating $90 for a one year subscription to something that doesn't work.
If you can't update, it ain't working!!

Ban_ThisI was tired of all the app crashes and kernel panics.
When shutting off the computer it took forever, like 5 to 10 minutes, now it shuts down in 21 seconds or less.
Does this actually work now?????? - Version: 10.5.3, 9/30/2008 09:23AM PST

kent1There have been many complaints in these pages about their support.
I have always had a response within 24hrs on the few occasions that I have contacted them.
I use NetBarrier and VirusBarrier and have had very few problems.

kkeujThe new antispyware mode can be filtered by port now.
A must have on your computer if you're connected 24/7
i also got NetBarrier & VirusBarrier in bundle with other software... and after using VB for a few months i uninstalled it... never installed NB until i got Snow Leopard. but now i'm using both! under Snow it's all going smooth with no noticable loss in speed (i have Real-Time Scanner in VB disabled)
now i've been on a Mac since i retired my Atari in '96 and i've never thought i could get viruses on them... got the 666 virus on OS8 but that was easy and harmless.
but i have a Windows XP partition on my Mac so i thought that this would be the right thing to do... get som protection... and VB says it'll detect Windows Viruses and i believe them.
so to wrap this rant up... i have no problem running these apps. they run & update smoothly. the only reason i gave this review is that there are a lot of negative ones and this isn't that bad...(",)...
