You know that Mac users are very demanding in form, function and ease of use. We tend to put more emphasis in form than function. So what if the GUI does not knock your socks off. Look at what the program does. You take a little extra time to enter you recipes but this gives you the ability to resize your recipes. You have on that serves 6 but need it to serve 2. No problem. Yest the GUI could be nicer but get off Craig's back about the GUI.

With such emotional reactions to the interface of this program, I couldn't resist downloading it ... 'Oh the humanity' indeed! Please, can't we just have a screenshot on this page to satisfy the morbidly curious?
The last reviewer implied that the critics of this program have overlooked 'function' in favoring 'form'. I disagree. This kind of software is all about making life easier for the user — that is its purpose, or 'function' — and the only way it can do this is via the user interface. Interface design therefore is not merely concerned with aesthetic appeal (although this counts for something too), but is critical to how well the program functions.
Look, hats off to anyone who can create a program like this — it's bloody hard work. But in all fairness to the developer, the only helpful advice is honest advice — if you're serious about your software, hook up with someone who has skills in the area of interface design.

Note: There are many others that I didn't test at all because they looked less promising, based on their descriptions and other people's reviews. There is one commercial product (TheRecipeManager) I refuse to test because of the developer's crazy policy of buy before you try. While I have tried to give a fair and honest appraisal of each product, I don't pretend that each review is exhaustive or totally without error. If I have overlooked any feature, it's possibly an indication that the feature was difficult to find or unintuitive to use.
