XNap Usage TipMust be using 10.2.... - Version: 3.0b3, 10/15/2003 09:00PM PST

Retch
Per the xnap help forum, plugins will not install when using 10.1.5 (or earlier). It's pretty to look at though. Oh well, back to 2.5-pre3....

XNap ReviewWhy? - Version: 3.0b3, 10/15/2003 04:01PM PST

Why is this software here? It can't find your Incomplate directory, it can't connect to anywhere, help pages have only headlines... Version 2.5r3 is a good piece of software, but this is abad joke.

XNap CommentaryDon't trash 2.5r2 just yet... - Version: 3.0b3, 10/15/2003 12:55PM PST

This is apparently the first version of a new, Swiss Army knife Xnap designed to work multiple networks simultaneously. It doesn't hold settings or much else just yet, but I have no doubt that it will. Unfortunately, in the interim, you can configure it, download the plug-ins and play - but not much else. So if you are an Xnap fan, stay with 2.5r2 for solid performance.

XNap ReviewCompletely unusable - Version: 3.0b3, 10/15/2003 06:21AM PST

Giorgio Boccalari
The wizard starts up but nothing else happens. The only visible button is "Cancel": one clic and the app quits.
This is not even a beta! It could be an alfa pre-pre-pre-pre-pre release.
Better stick with the 2.5 pre 3.

XNap Troubleshooting ReportInterface froze - Version: 3.0b3, 10/15/2003 06:19AM PST

The old frozen interface bug resurfaced. Plenty of new features but I'm to keep the last 2.5 version, which, while being less sexy, saves me headaches and frustration. I look forward to the next version. By the way. when shall we see Unicode supported?

Loading the wizard at the launch of app. Doesnt go any further even after 10mins! Not a very good beta. I do like this app tho, or at least before I did before this beta!

XNap ReviewFreezes my machine - Version: 2.5r2, 8/11/2003 02:07PM PST

Organism
This app causes my machine to freeze up completely.

It's unfortunate, because otherwise, this app has allowed me to get some pretty rare and precious files, that few people are interested in.

But the constant freezing makes it a real pain in the arse.

I'm using Mac OS X 10.2.6, on a Dual Processor 450 MHz G4. I wonder if the multi-processing aspect of the app is part of the problem. Are people with single-processor machines having this difficulty?

XNap ReviewThe best Mac p2p client - Version: 2.5r2, 8/4/2003 10:30PM PST

Robert G. Serafini
I have used them all. Acquisition, Poisoned and Drumbeat are solid performers and mlDonkey reigns supreme for huge files. But after a period of using the other good clients, XNap feels like the best. XNap allows direct browsing of other XNap computers - most Windows clients require traversing a server. And the clincher is that transfers from XNap Macs seem consistently faster and more certain than from other clients. The developers could take interface cues from Acquisition: there is too much information that cannot be tweaked for improved performance and I would be happy to not see it. This revision fixes some flakiness in the last version. This is a great app.
