Product Description:

Frodo/MacOS is an extremely robust Commodore 64 Emulator for the Macintosh. Frodo was developed to reproduce the graphics of games and demos with higher precision than the existing C64 emulators. To that end, Frodo can display raster effects correctly that only result in a flickering mess with other emulators. In addition to the precise VIC emulation, Frodo features a processor-level 1541 emulation that is able to handle about 50% of all fast loaders. There is also a faster 1541 emulation for four drives containing .D64, .X64, .T64, or .LYNX files. Sound (SID) emulation is also provided. Frodo/MacOS includes a single cycle emulator, Frodo SC, that has almost 100% compatibility at the expense of speed.

Frodo is a poor emulator that is short on feature and really not worth bothering with. If you want the most accurate and full featured 64 (and VIC-20, 128, Plus/4 and PET) emulator out there, get VICE (http://www.viceteam.org/) which is completely free. If you want a relatively accurate emulator that is really well integrated with OS X, easy to use and you're willing to pay for it, get Power64 (http://www.infinite-loop.at/Power64/index.html).

Oh, by the way,"Chibbi", take a look at Christian Bauer's page (you know, the autor of Frodo, I mean, the real one) http://www.uni-mainz.de/~bauec002/FR4Readme.html. He candidly says:

Some of the emulation's features:

• Other peripherals: Keyboard and joystick (real joysticks (only under BeOS, Linux and AmigaOS)

• Frodo is freeware. Why pay >$40 for a C64 emulator?

Now, 10+25 is damn close to 40.

As long as we accept to pay "The Macintosh tax", developer will continue to charge us.
