of issues solved. This app Beats a lot of (if not all, but it's hard to compare since they are all focussed on different parts in the audio editing-chain) other Audio-editors for Mac.

to get v 2.7, and looking through the Read Me in the install (strange location, maybe that's the new OSX standard?), I noticed the Cmnd- '+' and '-' keys that are referred to are the NUMERIC KEYPAD + and - keys... So unlike what I complained about in my previous post, thankfully I CAN zoom in and out via key commands... I thought maybe it was my machine... Am I also overlooking the keyboard command to take you to the front or back of your SELECTION? Any thoughts? I'll just mention that in the old days, in Sound Designer II, you could use the arrow keys for this... then I'll stop, because 'back in the old days' modems were 28.8k dial-up, and Bush was president... Wait a minute...

Works support. Their non-answer for my problem was I should try the commercial version! (I am not making this up.) Gee, I thought the point of a freeware or demo version of a commercial product was so you could see if it worked for you, BEFORE you sent any money.

1. No Help function and no manual supplied with this. 2. No apparent way of altering playback volume so I can't hear any audio although I can start it playing. 3. Incomplete support for Griffin iMic (surely the most widely used audio input product out there), eg. playthrough checkbox in setup is greyed out. Given these problems I can't rate the program yet! Can't argue with the price, but it would be nice to be able to hear the sound...

raise my master volume to max and reduce my iSub volume to min every time I open it? I'm tired of having to remember to reset my volume control and iSub System Preferences or get blasted every time I try this out.

ME free version when it was released, then upgrade to the LE version for $20 (Special offer), LE version gives you 4 slot effects module and realtime preview, no need to process file to hear what its doing. But the real kicker is the MaxIt plugin you get with it along with it. Maxit will boost levels, enhance audio and limit clipping all in one neat module. Take those old weak sounding CD from 80's early 90's and remaster them to be be in sync with todays much louder, clearer cd's. It's wonderful. Then i upgraded to the LE PLUS version and got TC's wonderful Reverb Module also, so now i haveTC's PEQ, delay, reverb, Maxit and then you can go to http://www.silverspike.com/PlugIns/RubyTube/rubytube.html and download this nice free tube amp simulator plugin and you've got it made... is the SW perfect? NO. What audio SW under $100 is.... BUT the price for LE PLUS version is only $49.95. The bottom line is TC's got good stuff and much cheaper than Bias. Will give most average users all the power they need in a affordable package. Oh and the LE PLUS version also allows you to audio enhance QT movies and export MP3 (very decent MP3 encoder). The free versions OK but the LE PLUS version is MUCH,MUCH,MUCH better. Free only gets you cut/paste and a one band PEQ.

app. Multiple undos (dependent on disk space) is an excellent feature. The price is right. The only complaint is that the keyboard shortcuts don't work (and as mentioned by ill trooper, menu over and over is painful).

free software too. It seems to have worked pretty well for them to make ProTools a standard and get people to buy their incredibly expensive hardware. It also worked pretty well for Microsoft. I do like this software. Its the best, most stable basic waveform editor out there. Until the new version of Pro Tools Free comes out for OS10 or I finally get around ordering Bias Studio LE and some USB audio, this gets me by okay with recording from my minidisc and basic editing. There are some elements of the interface (like the aforementioned zoom) that are a littl clunky and it has crashed on me once or twice, but, for the price, I'm okay with it.

grumble about missing Sound Designer II, but audio editors like Peak and Spark seem to fill the void, although the wave-editing and navigation never seem as intuitive as that old SDII. It may be my set-up (Dual Gig G4, OSX 10.2.3) but many key commands do not work (zoom in, zoom out - absolutely critical, painfully slow via the menu). PhillyJoe, you can import MP3 files by drag&dropping them on the open app icon in the dock; should save you some time! No saving in that format, however... Since the key commands don't work properly for me, I would give this a 3, but who can hate? It's a powerful program offered for free. I heard a rumor that the new 'iApp' might be an audio editor, so let's see what Apple brings us for 03.
