Product Description:

Podestal allows one to easily download any files stored on Apple's iPod. The application provides two views into the files on an iPod; a file view and a music view. The file centric view works much like the Finder's list view. The music view parses the ID3 tags associated with the MP3 files and organizes the various mp3 tracks by Artist, Album and, finally, tracks.
An icon view at the bottom of the window allows the current selection to be copied via drag and drop. Anything that can accept filenames via the clipboard can be a drag target; Finder, Mail messages, etc. Multiple files or music tracks can be selected.
Podestal scans for a mounted iPod when launched. As well, the application should detect and automatically display the contents of any iPod that is hot-connected to the machine. Podestal also listens for unmount events and updates its display accordingly.
FireWire Disk Use must be enabled for Podestal to work! Conveniently, if Podestal is running and you enable FireWire Disk Use and click OK, Podestal will receive a mount notification and update itself appropriately. Likewise, if you disable the ability for the iPod to act as a FireWire Disk, Podestal will correctly update the display.
This is a 0.1 release for a reason; I don't have the resources to test the application across a large selection of environments or with MP3s that I didn't encode. If you encounter problems, please provide constructive feedback to and I'll do what I can to address the issue in the next release!
Podestal is for legal or rightholder-authorized copying only. Don't steal music.

Podestal ReviewTHANK YOU! - Version: 0.1, 12/23/2006 06:08AM PST

I am running iTunes 7 on OSX 10.4.8 and this worked flawlessly! I got a newer computer and inadvertently copied my older over my newer iTunes folder during the migration process. I was mad as hell at myself, but had just updated my ipod mini yesterday prior to the madness. THANK YOU PODESTAL!Most of my music was from old CDs of mine which have since been lost or damaged. I have learned my lesson. If you need your ipd music to migrate to the computer, this is awesome. The great thing is that I don't have to rebuild the playlists!

Podestal Troubleshooting ReportDoesn't support AAC files! - Version: 0.1, 12/15/2004 07:24AM PST

The reason why you won't see all your songs with Podestal is because it doesn't recognize any AAC files (m4a or m4p). This utility was the greatest thing going for a while, but now I use iPod tracks to Desktop:

This is the closest thing you'll find to iPod copying abilities built right into iTunes.

Podestal ReviewNot all songs showing up... - Version: 0.1, 11/15/2004 03:33PM PST

iTunes says there are 724 songs on my iPod. This app only finds 496. Where did the rest go?
