Product Description:
UnicodeChecker displays detailed information for every code point from the Unicode Standard. The information includes Unicode name, UTF-8, UTF-16 and UTF-32 encodings, XHTML entities, mapping info and a lot more.
You can browse characters by code point or find them by their Unicode name.
Several string conversion functions (IDN, XHTML, CSS, Java, etc.) are available from within UnicodeChecker, via the MacOS X "Services" menu and/or via AppleScript
What's new in this version:
- Uses Unicode 5.2.0 data files.
- Uses version 1.7 of the "Adobe Glyph List For New Fonts".
- New QuickLook plugin for previewing Codepoints found via the (optionally) generated Spotlight index.
- New "Length" utility for displaying number of codepoints along with number of code units and bytes for UTF-8, UTF-16 and UTF-32 encoding.
- The "Split Up" utility now supports drag and drop for rearranging and adding new codepoints.
- Added option in the "Escape" plugin to escape every codepoint. Previously, only codepoints from a predefined set were escaped.
- Minor improvements and bugfixes.

Unicodechecker will only check STRINGS. I.e. it is helpful when you need to look up a value for a certain character or so - that is great but I personally would prefer this functionality more integrated in other programs or OSX itself, not in a seperated GUI.
However, what I desperately lack here is a conversion for FILES. UChecker is the most intelligent software I know when it comes to knowing how to convert, but it can't convert...
OKee, I'll search on for something that can change UTF-16 -> UTF-8 without garbling the special characters that happen to have a different encoding but do exist for both file types.
