The WingNuts 2.0.3 update requires 2.0.2 due to changes in the scenario file. If you need version 2.0.2, please visit http://freeverse.com/wn2 and snag the full disk image.

Note that in the coming days, the 2.0.2 full disk image will be updated to the 2.0.3 full version disk image.

WingNuts 2 Troubleshooting ReportWon't update 2.0.1 - Version: 2.0.3, 6/27/2006 04:59PM PST

I downloaded the updater, and it wouldn't work on 2.0.1. I had to re-download 2.0.0 and run the updater on that version.

WingNuts 2 CommentaryIt's an Installer Upgrade NOT a Demo... - Version: 2.0.1, 6/22/2006 02:55PM PST

NativeofSF
I recently downloaded what I thought was a demo/trial version...but the installer would only upgrade a "found" version...perhaps the developer might address this? Besides, it looks looks good but the obvious boo-boo ain't fun...it's frustrating besides...

How can anyone recommend any software without first installing it THEN trying it? Anyone who trashes a program simply because there was a installation error without actually running it would seem to have a box of rocks between their ears.

PS: For the undecided: Perhaps a "not sure" button is needed?

WingNuts 2 CommentaryCan't get demo to successfully launch - Version: 1.3.1, 6/16/2006 01:16PM PST

NorbyWells
My children and I are avid fans of the first version of Wingnuts and they eagerly awaited the release ot WN 2. My oldest son played the demo at MacWorld SF in January and has been regularly asking me if it has come out yet. You should have seen him dance around the house when I told him it was released two days ago...

But alas... I can not get the demo to run. I have dowloaded the 175 Mb file onto two machines both running 10.4.6 (Quicksilver G4 Dual Gig with 1.5 Mb Ram; Quicksilver G4/867 upgraded with Sonnet Dual 1.7 GHz and 1.5 Mb Ram).

Both machines will not successfully launch the demo. They both try... the app icon shows up in the dock, I get the initial splash screen (showing remaining tries on the demo), click the "Play Now" button, but after waiting over a minute it becomes "non-responsive" and must be forced quit.

Two separare downloads... two separate machines... needless to say my kids were very dissappointed. I hope an update is coming soon.

WingNuts 2 Troubleshooting ReportDemo of WN-2 Problems with Kensington Keyboard... - Version: 1.3.1, 6/16/2006 06:50AM PST

j.tessier
I tried the Wingnuts 2 demo at work on a desktop G4 and it runs great. However, at home on my G4 Cube with a Kensington Multimedia Keyboard, no keystrokes (other than command-Q) are recognized. I can't fly the plane(s), I can't fire, etc. I tried updating the keyboard driver to the newest beta release but it doens't make a difference. I also plugged the keyboard directly into the Cube instead of thru the hub in my Apple display. Also no help. Anyone have any similar problems with the new demo? (I wanted to post this in Freeverse's support forums, but they are offline for an unspeficied period of time).

Thanks for any suggestions,

John

WingNuts 2 CommentaryNo discount for current owners... - Version: 1.3.1, 6/16/2006 06:20AM PST

There's no discount of version 2 for owners of version 1, contrary to what the publish on their web site. Don't bother upgrading, it's not worth the price. Besides, why support a company that won't support their customers. A pox on them.

WingNuts 2 Reviewfun game - Version: 1.3.1, 9/11/2004 06:26PM PST

I'd never heard of this game until it popped up as a free download on .mac, it's a lot of fun pretty much a revamped Time Pilot. My only complaint would be that it doesn't work properly with my Microsoft USB Gamepad, but then no Mac games seem to work properly with this. Other than that it's good fun, I think it'd be a lot more fun with a working gamepad though.

/me heads off to his local online reseller to order a gamepad.

A really fun game -- I haven't had this much fun in a long time. It's free if you join .Mac. One complaint -- the game resizes some application windows when you're done -- after playing, my Filemaker windows are all on the left side of the screen.

WingNuts 2 Troubleshooting ReportCan't get 1.3.2 (.Mac version) working - Version: 1.3.1, 8/20/2004 03:20PM PST

I started this up, got the "choose resolution" dialog, opted to use the "same as current display" on my original PowerBook TiBook (10.3.5, 1 GB RAM). I got a back screen and background music. I can switch to other apps but can't see or do anything in WingNuts. I couldn't find any guidance in the FAQ - the closest condition there gave a link to a 1.2.5 update which is inaccessible in any event.

BTW, why would the area which is touted as the first you should check located almost to the end of the support page?
