Product Description:

Welcome to a world of intrigue, adventure and fierce combat.

Every world has conflict. Good and evil. Friend and foe. Safety and danger. In Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amnā?¢, you'll find yourself between these factions. This epic sequel will immerse you in a world of intrigue, adventure and fierce combat where your ability to discern the difference between these sides - with the assistance of steel and spell - determines your fate.

In Baldur's Gate I, you defeated your evil half-brother Sarevok and prevented your father Bhaal, the dead Lord of Murder, from returning to the Forgotten Realms. Now, in Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amnā?¢, the stakes have become much higher. Will you resist the evil within you, and forge a legend of heroic proportions? Or will you embrace your monstrous inner nature, and carve a swath of destruction across the Realms?

Your story begins anew in the exotic southern kingdom of Amn, amidst the opulence of the sinister capital city of Athkatla. Journey through the fierce, unforgiving wilderness of Amn, and through the treacherous caverns of the Underdark, in your quest for artifacts of awesome power and treasure of inestimable wealth.. even challenge dragons, if you dare. Baldur's Gate II Reviewlots of fun - Version: 1.1.2, 7/19/2005 11:43PM PST

This game is an enormous amount of fun. It's a great adaptation of Dungeons and Dragons, in which you steer a party of adventurers through all sorts challenges and battles. What really makes the game well-done is the huge number of side quests that continually keep you busy even as you try to make progress on the main quest. The NPCs that you can add to the party are also quite fun with distinct personalities and often funny banter. Every person I've talked to who has played this has had fond memories of playing it. They say that it is even better than the Neverwinter NIghts installments that follow. As for the OS X issues reported by others, I guess they were solved by Moore's Law if nothing else. I'm playing under OS 10.4 on a 1.6GHz G5 and having no problems with frame rate or whatnot even with everything maxed out. I have had a progressive problem with lockups when changing areas or apparent failures of pathing where the characters are virtually frozen. Eventually I had to shift to running it under Classic. Under Classic it's been okay but a little sluggish. Whenever it gets too sluggish in Classic, I switch back to OS X until it locks up. Annoying but working out so far. I haven't tried multiplayer so I can't comment on it. There are many websites where folks discuss their favorite characters and strategies. A good one is "http://www.angelfire.com/hero/tjekanefir/amn.htm"

Baldur's Gate II Troubleshooting ReportWorks on 10.1.5, but not 10.2 - Version: 1.1.2, 10/1/2003 02:28AM PST

I have the game installed on my iMac 400 DV special edition, running under the latest OS X 10.x.x. The game works, and and so does multiplayer. However, the multiplayer has failed to work on my G4-800mhz powerbook and G4-1.25ghz powerbook, which both are running under Jaguar (10.2.x)

The game is so much more beautiful under OS X... what a shame that we must play multiplayer in OS yukky 9. Yes, I play this game with my own superior characters. I passed it with the game's own characters, then made and worked on my own, and passed it again on my iMAC.

But I wanna play this game WITH my OWN characters, without the lagginess, under OSX! fix it fix it fix it!
