The previous complaints about rounding errors are likely not rounding errors at all; rather, merely due to the point in time when the exchange rate conversion factors were last updated (they move constantly throughout the currency trading business day). Try comparing this widget's answers to some of the other currency converters (Yahoo, CNN, etc.) on a weekend when the markets are closed and you'll see they are essentially the same...slight differences due to the converters' internal programming accuracy (CurrencyConverter promises five-digit accuracy) and/or the accuracy of the database each particular converter uses.

A valid complaint would be that the developer only allows conversion updates once per hour and you have to manually click the orange circular arrow button on the bottom left of the widget to get it to update. That's plenty good for personal use unless a currency's exchange rate is changing rapidly due to some national/international economic calamity.

Obviously for large-sum conversions, one would want to use a dynamically updated currency converter.

Memory use is miniscule and no memory leaks were noted.

I particularly like the tax feature built into this widget which lets me know what I'll be paying for an item after my credit card company adds on their 2% foreign conversion fee.

Given that the latest feedback is seven years old, I thought I'd give a current review. First of all congratulations to the developer for keeping this product afloat for the last eight years - must be a labour of love for a freeware app. Firstly the rounding bug complained of seven years ago must be fixed because it's not there now. Secondly this has got to be one of the most versatile currency dashboard apps around. The app allows for quite extensive configuration, reordering to you heart's content. Once you've done that you can just let it be and get regular up-to-date comparisons for a whole host of currencies - I've got about seven that I check off frequently. Inserting a figure for any currency allows for an instantaneous comparison with all other set currencies. The accuracy as far as I can see is the same as xe.com and a whole host of currency web sites. The beauty of having a dashboard client(at least this client), is it loads fast, and if there's no connection the last figures remain so that calculations can still be done. After seven years there's no justification for it having such a low star rating, consequently I'm giving it a five.
