a great idea, and it looked pretty good, but just when it began to get stable, the devloper apparently decided to quit development. Jaugar problems...competition from ChangeDesktop (for FREE)? Personally, I liked this design better. I hope he picks up where he left off. I am going to give this effort 3 stars for now, and hope he deserves a 5 star rating when he resurrects this phoenix.

leave such a low rating, but it simply doesn't work with either rotate picture at login or in hourly increments. Good turn-around time with email to developer but his advice didn't fix the problem. Nice interface and you're on the right track but will try ChangeDesktop next.

that there is probably too much nagging and I will tone that down. Currently the nag sheet drops down every time you open SwitchPic unregistered. The other nag window has a 1/30 chance of appearing at every change of the desktop in the background. The problem is that if you only set the desktop to change at every log in and don't change your settings in SwitchPic. You could go a whole month without any nagging.

of SwitchPic. I too wish that I could change the blue background color. Unfortunately that is hard coded into OS X. Until there is some way to change that or when I do my own drawing of the desktop picture (to fix the Finder getting stuck too), changing the color isn't possible. Hopefully someday.

really nice utility, which in the short time I used it seems to do what it claims. It has a nice interface and is worth the $5 fee. I was going to buy it, but the nagging for payment is incessant and starts immediately. What ever happened to a trial period? Rather than rewarding such behavior, I decided to uninstall it and wait for a less annoying product. That brings up another problem, SwitchPic requires manually removing pieces from three different places. Is it that hard to make an uninstaller?

minor quibbles, most out of Joe's control. The one serious issue that I had (other users couldn't activate it) turned out to be a problem with the Desktop preference pane. If you can't get it to load, set the desktop pane to one of the standard Apple selections, and not something outside your user domain/folder. Joe let me know about this, but it would be nice to see it in the inline help. The only other two quibbles are the slow preview loading (not something Joe can really address using Apple's libraries) and the fact that the priority popup retains the checkmark from the last selected value of any other picture (you can still change it easily enough). I'm going to go ahead and give him 5 stars, although I probably would put 4.5 if they had it. All-in-all a great program. I paid because I thought it was definitely worth it. I haven't paid a shareware fee in a couple of years because nothing's caught my fancy enough to do so. Hopefully that's a ringing endorsement. :-)
It always had an awkward interface anyway.
