majority of studio release DVD's are not CBR but Variable Bit Rate. CBR looks like crap. That's why DVD's released when DVD technology was brand new looked so bad. VBR allows smooth transitions, compensates for high-action areas and saves on DVD space on slow moving areas.

you be more specific? This is the first time an user reports a crash (yes, zero reports till now, from 1.0 to 1.3; to date the only potential crashing bugs were detected by myself and promptly fixed); I'm very interested in replicating your problem. Are you sure you're feeding the program with a real MPEG2 video stream (i.e. not a muxed one)? The freeze happens in manual or automated mode (in manual mode it should never happen)? Which OS are you using (OS X or OS 9, and which version)? Which release of CarbonLib are you using (if OS 9)? The program has no problem in splitting files of any size (during test I splitted a MPEG2 file 9.8 Gb big). Send some detailed description of the problem to bugs@jaw.it Thanks
