What's new in this version:

Lasso Professional 8.5.4 is a free update to Lasso Professional 8.5 which is recommended for all users. This update includes a significant performance increase, an update to the Lasso Connector for FileMaker Server which improves compatibility with FileMaker Server 9, and SOAP enhancements. Consult the Lasso 8.5 Setup Guide and Lasso 8.5 Language Guide for information about the new features in this version.

Lasso is an excellent middleware application server that is designed for people who aren't programmers to build solutions. If you know HTML and always wanted to develop database or dynamic driven websites, Lasso is an excellent choice. With the free Lasso Developer, you can download and try and learn Lasso without any cost. You can host your Lasso solution at any one of a dozen web hosting providers for a very low cost and have your solution deployed.

If you are new to web development, I'd strongly encourage you to check out what Lasso offfers. Security, well documented and easy to remember tag structure, many methods of coding styles are supported, connects to many databases, and the community of Lasso developers goes over and beyond to help you.

Easy update, no problems whatsoever. I'm continually impressed with the quality of the Lasso server. Well worth the purchase price when compared, apples to apples, with php (yes PHP), cold fusion or asp. Try it, you'll never go back. Takes half the time to code as other languages. Works on linux, mac os x, mac os x server, and windows.

Try Typo3. It is open source and very powerful. Learning curve is a bit steep, but it has the power.

Lots of similar products in the $200- $300 range

CD
