Product Description:

WindowShade X is a haxie that brings WindowShade functionality into Mac OS X. When you double-click a window title or try to minimize a window, it will do action which can be different from the default Mac OS X behavior (putting the window in the Dock). WindowShade X has 5 alternative minimize styles: WindowShade, Minimize-In-Place, Make Window Transparent, Float on Top, Hide Application, and Do Nothing.

What's new in this version:

  • The price of WindowShade X has increased from $10 to $13.50. (Will take effect on Wednesday)
  • Added support for Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard v10.5 and later.
  • Dropped support for Mac OS X 10.3 Panther. WindowShade X now requires Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger v10.4.11 or later.
  • No longer supports setting custom shadows. This feature never worked 100% properly in Mac OS X 10.4 and cannot be made to work at all with Mac OS X 10.5 without extensive rewrites
  • Addressed a problem that could cause an infinite recursion and then a crash (the SUIS problem).
  • No longer subjugates World of Warcraft.
  • No longer uses CGSUniqueCString().
  • MIP windows no longer appear below the bottom of the screen in 10.5.
  • MIP windows now respect the Dock size in 10.5.
  • Addressed a bug that caused a MIP window to expand into an invisible window when clicking on the Dock icon when all windows in the application are MIPped.
  • Now allows windowshading of the iTunes 8 window when double clicking on the title bar.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when closing all windows (option click close widget) in Cocoa applications.
  • Addressed an issue that rendered WindowShade useless in Firefox 3.x.
  • Note: MIP does not currently work with Spaces.
  • Includes APE 2.5, SCR 1.5, and UI 3.7.1.

WindowShade X CommentaryDisappointing Customer Service - Version: 4.3, 10/18/2009 07:21AM PST

As a paying customer it doesn't seem like it's a big stretch to expect an answer when I ask when I can expect the product to work with the latest Mac OS.
(Cut and Paste your email reply, Unsanity - better yet, spend 5 minutes once every week or so, while you are having your AM coffee, to update the product page with your progress)

If Unsanity is too busy to update/address their customers - then perhaps they don't deserve them.

Upshot: Apple needs to rework this feature back into the OS/GUI.

WindowShade X CommentaryUnsanity's communication policy :-( - Version: 4.3, 9/29/2009 01:22PM PST

Whether we like it or not this is Unsanity's official communication policy taken from one of their blogs: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Note: Please do not post comments and/or send emails asking about the present and/or future of things not mentioned in this post. Such comments will be moderated, deleted, or edited. When we have something to say about other products, it will be posted, and not a moment before then. Asking us about ETAs just ends up wasting both of our time. Apologies for taking such a harsh stance, but the only thing we would tell you is "it'll be done when it's done" and we're trying to prevent a repeat of the tens of thousands of comments/emails we've received asking for an ETA. Any kind of timeframe or ETA we could possibly give will be wrong and users get very disappointed when ETAs are missed. That's the nature of ETAs, they are always wrong. And due to the fact we won't release something before we feel it is ready, any ETA is even more likely to be missed."

WindowShade X CommentaryThey just don't care... - Version: 4.3, 9/26/2009 01:51AM PST

I have written to Unsanity several times re Snow Leopard compatibility, and like everyone else - NO response.
It's hard for me to believe they can't get it together enough to update the app. If they wanted to, they would.
It's obvious they don't care, but I can't understand why.
