BatChmod CommentaryFine with 10.6.1 Snow Leopard - Version: 1.51, 11/8/2009 12:42PM PST

No problems running in Snow Leopard.

It has its flaky moments, always did. But I <3 this app. It's far easier to use than fumbling around in the ACL settings. Just be careful.

I am on verisiontracker quite a bit. I am running 10.4.11 on a MacBook Pro Intel Core Duo.
I went to the apple store and they could not help me empty the trash. I had AppleWorks 6 and did everything I could, such as change the permissions and unlock the file in the trash. The Apple guy was clueless as probably Apple was. I asked two guys "geniuses" and soon learned that for their own App on their own machine for the clippings points and other extraneous utilities that were associated with Appleworks 6 including the App itself would not empty of the trash and every time I would trash I had to keep clicking the continue button about fifteen times to trash. Sound familiar? Most of these were Apple related. Then I downloaded this program and went under the Batchmod menu selection and selected Force Empty Trash. It did it without a hitch. What is with Apple? I did nothing other than install the AppleWorks 6 more than two years ago and have struggled ever since until Batchmod. By the way people, tell us what your system. It makes it easier for the rest of us. This is absolutely a 5 Star if there every was one and the time it will save me from having to continually pressing the return key I am so thankful to Batchmod. It almost seems I a writing so much that I am with the company. I assure I am not. I am grateful to VersionTracker that I could enter the search term "trash" and find this great program. The struggle for two years is over!!!!!!!!!

Failed to empty my trash. However in all fairness, I have now tried everything else as well and no applications seem to be able to do so.

When you get a new Mac the upgrade process is usually pretty simple. It can be much harder trying to set up your old computer for someone else. A couple of times I've had permission problems when trying to move files from someone else's computer to my old computer. In both cases it was easy to fix the problem with BatChmod. I highly recommend it.

It's good seeing this product being updated, even if it's for no other reason than remind us how far along OS X has come.

Legions of people downloaded this helpful app "back in the day", as at times, it was the ONLY way we could empty the Trash!

Did anyone else, upon using OS X 10.0 - 10.1 for the first time, have the feeling that Apple had lost their collective minds?

Anywho...

Good to see BatChmod still lives, but for me at least, it's GREAT that I no longer require it.

:-)

BatChmod ReviewDoes it work? - Version: 1.5, 5/5/2008 09:58AM PST

rubecube
I've tried to change permissions to a few folders, with absolutely no success. Everything stays the same in all of those folders.

I'm surprised because I've used BatChmod for a long time... any idea?

Macpro, OS 10.5.2

BatChmod CommentaryWelcome back! - Version: 1.5, 5/5/2008 05:51AM PST

When I saw this listed as an update I almost wet myself.

Since the last version had a nasty habit of crashing upon quitting I would use the app and try to tell myself that it wouldn't completely break one day leaving me to hand code each chmod. The greatest strength of this app isn't necessarily the GUI (which IS very good) but is the ability to unlock and apply the settings recursively. EXCELLENT work on this app- I'm on my way to donate RIGHT NOW! I don't just recommend it- Its something more than that.. you can't live without it.

Batchmod is one of those apps that I'm really happy to have on my hard drive.

Thank you, Arbysoft. The addition of ACLs (even if it's only to view them) is perfect!
