Product Description:

BatChmod is a Cocoa utility for manipulating file and folder privileges in Mac OS X (10.5 recommended). It allows the manipulation of ownership as well as the privileges associated to the Owner, Group or others. Here are some of the characteristics of BatChmod:
  • It's simple and elegant
  • It allows one to change any specific privilege or ownership without affecting the others (ie, changing the group without affecting the owner, or adding or removing a specific privilege without affecting all the others)
  • It can recursively affect enclosed folders
  • It's basically a mix of the Unix commands chown, chgrp and chmod...
  • it can Force Empty the Trash

What's new in this version:

  • Version 1.5 which was posted before was the wrong build.
  • Universal binary updated for Mac OS 10.5 Leopard
  • Can clear ACLs (but not modify them)
  • Info drawer which lists all the chmod, chown or chgrp commands done by BatChmod so you can use them elsewhere.
  • New preferences to turn off the display of warnings for power users
  • Localizations need to be redone...

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.5 Intel
  • Mac OS X 10.5 PPC

It's good seeing this product being updated, even if it's for no other reason than remind us how far along OS X has come.

Legions of people downloaded this helpful app "back in the day", as at times, it was the ONLY way we could empty the Trash!

Did anyone else, upon using OS X 10.0 - 10.1 for the first time, have the feeling that Apple had lost their collective minds?

Anywho...

Good to see BatChmod still lives, but for me at least, it's GREAT that I no longer require it.

:-)

BatChmod ReviewDoes it work? - Version: 1.5, 5/5/2008 09:58AM PST

I've tried to change permissions to a few folders, with absolutely no success. Everything stays the same in all of those folders.

I'm surprised because I've used BatChmod for a long time... any idea?

Macpro, OS 10.5.2
