Product Description:

Haxial DiskCatalog is a fast utility for cataloging CDs, hard disks, folders, and any other type of disk. It allows you to browse the contents of disks without having to find them and insert them into your computer. More importantly, you can search all of your disks at once (again without having them in the computer), and DiskCatalog will display a list of all the files found, and their location. When you're looking for a file and you don't know where it is, this is much easier than manually searching all your disks. DiskCatalog is designed to be very fast -- search results usually appear instantly.

What's new in this version:

Updated to use new Haxial Appearance Engine.
Added the ability to search by Type. For example, to find JPEG files, enter "image/jpeg" into the "Type Contains" text box in the Find window, or just simply "jpeg". Or to find images, enter "image".
MS Windows: The "Batch Add" feature has been improved, now it detects CDs automatically when they are inserted, without you having to click a button.
Minor bug fixes.

Yes! This is a very fast App. Not so great lookin, but fast.

The one thing that I'm lacking to see in any of these catalog apps, is the ability to index the contents of an archive file (.sit) I have dozens of CD/DVD's with multiple .sit files on each disk and also the same on removable drives.

Knowing what content is within these archives is more important.

It is fast, does a good job at "batch adding" CD's, is remarkable at disk recall and a host of features that add to its useability. its design is "economical" in the no frill sense of the term. but what of it. five stars for organizing my host of disks in less time than I thought.
my one complaint is that the "options" box to click and present an array of options is not intuitive: who would think to click on a tiny field with slash marks? how about putting a meaningful designator there like, oh I don't know--a word maybe?
