MacReporter ReviewWill buy ASAP -- and the developer does respond. - Version: 2.6, 12/27/2007 03:03PM PST

tim.lance
Does everything I want how I want (especially inline-browser loading and site navigation. Fast. Handles all my feeds.

And. I asked the developer a question a couple days ago and got a reply yesterday. Perhaps the lack of communication has been a language thing and/or junk mail filtering thing?

Whatever, with my NNW subscription ending and discovering MR does even better for what I want I imagine I'll be ponying up soon.

I have used this product for 3 years, but after doing a fresh install paid for password and key does not work. Four emails to author and no response, the application seems has been abandoned, DO NOT PAY FOR THIS APP, IT HAS BECOME A RIP_OFF

MacReporter CommentaryNo reply at all!! - Version: 2.6, 2/3/2007 01:45AM PST

I'd like to add my experience to the previous posts.
About one month ago, I tried MacReporter and liked it very much.
I sent an e-mail to the developer with a few suggestions for future versions of the application.
Well... I did not expect that he would rush to include them in MacReporter. (Of course not.) However, I expected some kind of feedback, to show that he cares about what users think of his software.
Until today I got no reply at all!
If he had dropped me one or two simple lines, I would have bought a user licence for MacReporter the very next minute.
With this "Who cares!" attitude, he just lost a customer.

I imported all of my feeds from Netnewswire in OPML successfully. The browser is well styled and everything works great. Ihave used MacReporter since it first appeared on the scene years ago and this is the very best version.

MacReporter ReviewGnawing repeatable bug - Version: 2.0.1, 2/12/2006 07:42AM PST

Even after trashing everything I could find related to MacReporter and reinstalling, there are still too many times that selecting Mark All As Read results in getting back all the hidden results and a 284 showing up on the dock icon instead of it clearing. Sometimes I get a smaller number after the first try, but then doing it again results in the 284, THEN I have to select it a 3rd time to flush everything. Argh.

So just how much does the paid updrade from v1 cost? I somehow missed that part when I first started v2 and haven't seen any information on it since.

MacReporter ReviewOutstanding long awaited upgrade - Version: 2.0, 9/16/2005 08:37AM PST

The new 2.0 version of Mac Reporter is an outstanding improvement over the old version. Undoubtedly this is the best news/RSS reader around for it's ease of use and flexibility. Ideal for the novice user yet all the required bells and whistles for the more sophisticated and experienced user.

Kudos to the developer for an excellent shareware product.

MacReporter ReviewPoor planning on my part. - Version: 2.0, 9/16/2005 05:42AM PST

I am a long-time user of MacReporter and a fan from its inception, but this upgrade was not identified as fee-based. In fact, though maybe I should have known, no mention of a fee was made until after it had wiped out my version 1 app and all its prefs. Sure I could restore from a backup but I'm not sure why I'd go to the trouble (their offer for an upgrade naturally requires you to type in your old serial -- which I've misplaced -- but they don't offer a recover-your-serial option on their website).

I publish a small Mac-only newsletter but I had been using less and less of MacReporter as Safari added RSS feeds, and now I'm not sure I'd use v.2 if I purchased it -- which I don't plan. But it's irritating that I didn't take precautions against this kind of thing, and I'm left with a feeling of "gotcha."

What I've read, here, is that the new version is "slick." That isn't enough for me. I probably won't even go to the trouble of restoring v.1 from backup.

MacReporter ReviewAwesome upgrade - Version: 2.0, 9/15/2005 04:23AM PST

I have been using MacReporter for quite some time now, as well as creating a few RSS modules via the SoureForge app.

It's good to see that this upgrade has gone in the right direction. Well done to all involved.
