Product Description:

Obelisk is a professional DJ system designed to eliminate the need for any equipement besides your Mac. Unless you're playing for yourself, you'll probably want a professional sound system, or stereo to amplify what your doing, but the music library and all mixing, beat matching, etc. can be performed from your Mac. Supports a wide range of audio formats including MP3, AIFF, WAV, MPEG, MOV, etc.

What's new in this version:

  • Reduced the price to more appropriately reflect the current functionality
  • Reduced the range of the pitch sliders to more closely mimic that provided by most turntables; values are now +/- 10%
  • Fixed a bug where dragging the pitch slider all the way to the bottom would stop the track on player one ( this was incorrectly fixed only on player two, in 1.0.2)

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.2
  • Mac OS X 10.1
  • Mac OS X 10.0

Additional Requirements:

  • Mac OS X 10.0.4 or higher

Obelisk ReviewGiven that Obelisk… - Version: 1.1, 10/6/2001 11:10PM PST

is in its infancy, I'd say it's a mighty fine product. True, it's "not quite ready for primetime" but give it a chance. I've had a pleasant exchange with the developer, and I'm satisfied that those "gotta have" features for serious dj-ing are currently under development. I give it one star for being the first of its kind on OS X, two for its current functionality, and one for just being a darn cool app. For those of you who can't count that's 4. ;)

nice if there was a way to record the output to an AIFF file, so that a crossfaded mix CD could be created.
