What's new in this version:

  • PrinTao is the new professional printing function introducing layout functionality for images and text. (Full text only in STUDIO Upgrade)You are able to create your individual layouts with text and images at a high efficiency. The integration of image processing, layout functionality and printing by a single software tool is unique.
  • SilverFast JobManager. It is now possible to determine the way and order, in which the file name will be constructed (index at the end of the file name or at the beginning, prefix/suffix). The start index can be negative or zero, too.
  • Enhanced Automatic Descreening. The new enhanced descreening is able to auto-detect the screen of the original. The user is able to apply it as a full automated function without any necessary adjustments or as half automated version with auto-detection and user individual settings in a dialog.
  • JobManager: corrected minor displaying errors.
  • Maximum number of lines possible to scan increased.
  • iSRD: white scans as results of combining iSRD, batch mode, auto adjust, AACO and scanning to Photoshop - fixed.

Good NEWS for all Mac Users:

"Starting with version 6.6, SilverFast now supports Leopard for all 35mm Nikon scanner models (and all current IntelMacs).
Nikon Filmscanner are now addressed directly without any detour through the MAID-module.
With help of the patented SilverFast ME®, Kodachrome slides can be scanned with full dynamic range up to 3,8D for the first time
(without SilverFast ME® the Nikon LS5000ED generally only reaches 3,3D)."

but : "Presently only 35mm film scanner will be supported – a new version for LS-8000 and LS-9000 film scanners will follow soon."

I asked their support, when a compatible version for the 9000 will be available.
They replied, they are working on it and it would be distributed in maybe three or four weeks.

This is very odd software... badly designed, strange user interface, quite unintuitive and overly complicated... not for everyone... yes it does produce good scans, but no better than Vuescan or even the now very old NikonScan... (if you know how to use them correctly) - And the price of this thing - it's ridiculous even for pro's. Why spend all that money on overwrought mediocrity when you can get simple efficiency for far less in Vuescan.
