Product Description:

Do you want to control anti-aliasing of fonts? Would you like translucent terminal windows? Do you want to have all hidden files and folders displayed in the Finder? All that and many more hidden options of Mac OS X can be activated with the TinkerTool utility.

Without using the command-line, you can activate the following preference options:

  • Enable or disable the Mac OS Desktop
  • Disable the animation effect when opening files
  • Show hidden and system files in the Finder
  • Control the scaling options for the Desktop background image
  • Set the Dock position and pinning
  • Select the Dock animation effect
  • Use transparent Dock icons to mark hidden applications
  • Select different styles for display of the scrollbar arrows
  • Control automatic play of audio CDs or DVDs
  • Change the language for startup and login without having to reinstall the OS
  • Select the default fonts used in Cocoa applications
  • Activate transparent Terminal windows
  • Control font-smoothing in all types of Mac OS X applications
TinkerTool 2 is a module for the System Preferences application. It can be installed by a simple drag-and-drop operation. Full installation instructions are included in the package.

What's new in this version:

  • added feature to control sizing and placement of the desktop background image
  • added feature to control position of scrollbar arrows
  • added feature for disabling automatic play of audio CDs and video DVDs
  • added feature to change the startup and login window language of Mac OS X without having to reinstall the operating system
  • removed features that can no longer be supported in Mac OS X 10.1. This affects "mark foreground application with blue arrow", and "show trashcan on the Desktop".
  • the new version avoids a window flicker effect when TinkerTool is loaded into System Preferences
  • changing Dock position no longer produces a "logout to activate" message
  • the Terminal preview window now also respects the user-selected background color
  • the wording of some user interface elements has been changed in five language packages to better match its counterparts in the standard preference panes
  • an Icelandic language package has been added
  • the language package for Traditional Chinese has been re-integrated into the 2.0 version
  • TinkerTool now comes with an installation notes reader that automatically displays instructions in one of the nine supported languages
  • the FAQ document has been updated

I am still amazed at this little application that does so much. IMHO this should be apart of the default installation in OS X.

Have been suing this tool for years and it is terrific - features, stability, reliability... everything about TinkerTool is excellent. I also use TinkerTool System for some other functions which is equally good. Thanks and please keep up the good work!

The capability to reorder the login items is back. Of course, many other new features have been added.

Indeed this product just gets better and better. No conflicts and rock solid. Bravo!
