Product Description:

Version 3 opens the doors for the next generation of our renown products for changing user preferences in Mac OS X. TinkerTool allows you to access user settings built into Mac OS X that cannot be controlled by the standard "System Preferences" application. The latest version has been completely rewritten and uses a new technology that allows the tool to automatically adapt to different operating system versions. This way it is backward-compatible down to OS version 10.0 and will also guarantee support for future versions of Mac OS X.

TinkerTool makes sure that preference changes can only affect the current user. You don't need administrative privileges to use the tool. With this design, it is no problem to use TinkerTool in professional networks where users have restricted permissions. The program will never change any component of the operating system, so the integrity of your system is not put at risk, and there will be no negative effect on system updates.

All preference settings changed by TinkerTool can be reset to Apple's defaults, or to the state that existed before using the tool. No dangerous background processes are used for TinkerTool's operation.

What's new in this version:

The option to disable and control font-smoothing for QuickDraw applications has been reactivated for Panther.
An option to control font-smoothing limits in applications using Quartz has been added for Panther. This includes a high 144 point limit which allows to basically switch off font-smoothing.
An option to modify the permission filter for the creation of new files and folders has been added for Panther. It is effective for all applications started from the graphical user interface.
The option to add keyboard shortcuts for menu items has been removed for Mac OS X 10.3 because this feature is available in Panther's System Preferences application.
The option to re-import Mozilla bookmarks into Safari has been removed for systems running Safari version 100 or higher because Safari no longer supports this.
By user request, a setting of 9 points has been added to the minimum font size limit for Safari.
The restrictions when setting font size limits in Safari version 100 or higher have been clarified.
An option to set the number of visible entries in Safari's main history menu has been added.
An option to set the maximum number of history entries stored by Safari has been added.
TinkerTool is now saving and restoring the top left corner position of its window instead of the bottom left position to avoid confusion when reopening the application.
TinkerTool now remembers the last used preference pane between launches.
The close button of the main window could be used which was not intended. This problem has been fixed.
The compatibility with Cocoa applications that define invalid keyboard shortcuts has been enhanced.
When running on Panther, the tool now visualizes the selected pane icon in the toolbar.
A new FAQ list has been added to the distribution package.

I am still amazed at this little application that does so much. IMHO this should be apart of the default installation in OS X.

Have been suing this tool for years and it is terrific - features, stability, reliability... everything about TinkerTool is excellent. I also use TinkerTool System for some other functions which is equally good. Thanks and please keep up the good work!

The capability to reorder the login items is back. Of course, many other new features have been added.

Indeed this product just gets better and better. No conflicts and rock solid. Bravo!
