Product Description:

ScopeDriver is an enhanced software interface for your astronomical telescope. It allows you to connect a Macintosh to an Autostar, LX-200, or compatible telescope.
ScopeDriver is much more than a computerized version of your telescope's hand control! This program actually expands the capabilities of your instrument -- adding hundreds of features, including: an intuitive means of finding tens of thousands of objects by common name, Bayer/Flamsteed designation, and constellation; an Observing Log; multiple/sharable Observing Lists; entry of orbiting bodies; time synchronization; and much more.

What's new in this version:

  • Printing capabilities added to Observing Log and Observing Lists, with print preview and data formatting.
  • Fixed problem where using "Go To Coordinates" could be 180 degrees off when using a Classic LX200.
  • Added Startup Preference to return all application preferences to their default values.
  • Log Window now remembers if it was open at the last quit.
  • Communications Window's copied results are now in correct order (earliest at top).
  • Communications Window entries now include the time in seconds.
  • Added sheets implementation to Mac OS X builds.
  • Many other enhancements as detailed at the web site.

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.3
  • Mac OS X 10.2
  • Mac OS X 10.1

Additional Requirements:

ScopeDriver X Troubleshooting ReportDoesn't work with PowerBook G4 - Version: 3.1b3, 9/26/2007 10:09AM PST

I couldn't get a response with my LX90 through Autostar handset into either the USB via serial to USB convertor or direct to the RJ12 socket. I don't understand the significance of 'modem' in the connection list. Otherwise I like the way night mode does the whole screen, menu bars and all. :-)

ScopeDriver X Usage TipRegarding Celestrons - Version: 2.0.2, 11/4/2003 09:01PM PST

From the author:

I was planning Celestron support up until a few months ago. Celestron's published serial port command set does not support many of ScopeDriver's basic features. Consequently, ScopeDriver's feature set would be greatly reduced when used with a Celestron.

The general consensus of a number of Celestron owners was that Celestron support would probably not be worth the effort, given the resulting small feature set. Sorry!
