Doesn't work with PowerBook G4 - Version: 3.1b3, 9/26/2007 10:09AM PST

I couldn't get a response with my LX90 through Autostar handset into either the USB via serial to USB convertor or direct to the RJ12 socket. I don't understand the significance of 'modem' in the connection list. Otherwise I like the way night mode does the whole screen, menu bars and all. :-)

From the author:
I was planning Celestron support up until a few months ago. Celestron's published serial port command set does not support many of ScopeDriver's basic features. Consequently, ScopeDriver's feature set would be greatly reduced when used with a Celestron.
The general consensus of a number of Celestron owners was that Celestron support would probably not be worth the effort, given the resulting small feature set. Sorry!

I've only been able to dig through this program in Test Mode. I can't wait for my Meade ETX-90EC with AutoStar to arrive. I actually came across this program yesterday through web browsing. Nice to see the author is keeping things updated. From what I've seen this program really takes active astronomer into consideration... great features and flexibility.

Can you add compatibility with Celestron Nexstar Scopes? All GPS models have a rs232 port on the hand controller.

If you have a compatible telescope then you need this application. It expands on the features of the Meade keypad interface. All the Edwin wannabes are wishing they could run this.

great! I found this from a review at AppleLust, and I agree that is is written by a bunch of active observers... they know what I need. Edwin-schemer: this IS a Mac OS X program -- I am running it in Jaguar (not Classic mode) right now.

a *Carbon* application (although there is also one offered for Classic). Mac OS X utilizes the POSIX serial implementation, which can be accessed via most serial adapters.

author say clearly that this is a "Classic" application? I am not going to reinstall 9.2 for this. And OSX does not support RS232 -- just USB and firewire.

spoke to a Meade rep who said that all Autostars have RS232 input, either on the telescope base or on the hand controller. Nonetheless, serial port has been added to the Product Requirements.
