What's new in this version:

  • Alignment Options in Properties Bar - After creating multiple text objects and selecting all, the Align icons would be spread out or missing from the Properties bar. This has been fixed.
  • Annotation Tools and Snap to Grid - Although Snap to Grid was enabled, the Annotation tools would not snap. This has been fixed.
  • Auto Update - Although already running build 777, the Auto Update feature would indicate that build 777 was available for update. This has been fixed.
  • Constrain Angle and Snap to Grid - With snap to grid enabled and using high magnification with Pixels as document units, pressing Shift while drawing a line would cause Canvas to temporarily ignore snap to grid. This has been fixed.
  • Docking Bar and Toolbar - After adding several icons to the Toolbar, the Toolbar would collide with the Docking bar on the right side of the screen. This has been fixed.
  • Document Maximizing behind Properties bar - After adding several icons to the Toolbar and clicking the green maximize button, the document window would maximize behind the Properties bar. Hiding/Showing Properties bar would correct the problem. This has been fixed.
  • Error Placing with Multiple Documents Open - With multiple documents open, switching to the first document and choosing to place any Canvas file would cause the second document to come to the front. An error message would appear and a bounding box is placed in the first document.
  • Exporting as EPS - When saving a file as EPS, the progress bar would not go away although the file had been exported. This has been fixed. Fractional Text Size and the Properties Bar Fractional text sizes (8.5) could not be entered in the Properties bar, although they could be used in the Type palette. This has been fixed.
  • Grids - After configuring a grid size and saving the grid settings as default, the grid size would revert to factory default settings (1") upon exiting/restarting Canvas. This has been fixed.
  • High-ASCII Characters and PDF Export - If a document contained high ASCII characters and was exported as PDF, the high-ASCII characters would be missing from the PDF. This has been fixed. If a document contained high ASCII characters and the Symbol font was used, the high-ascii characters would be missing from the PDF. This has been fixed.
  • Image Losing Transparency - An image would lose its transparency in edit mode when another transparent image was placed on top in a separate layer. This has been fixed.
  • Image Warp in a Document without Drawing Scale Canvas would crash when trying to warp an image in a document that has no set scale. This has been fixed.
  • Launching Canvas 8 files - When trying to launch Canvas 8 files that contain dimension objects by dragging file over the Canvas 9 icon, Canvas would crash. This has been fixed.
  • Lens Objects and Create object at Viewpoint Command - When using the Create object at viewpoint command with 100% magnification in the SpriteEffects palette, the resulting object would be slightly larger than the original lens object. This has been fixed.
  • Locked Objects - After creating an extruded object and locking it, the object could be rotated and its color could be modified via the Properties bar. This has been fixed. A locked object could still be rotated using the Horizontalize command. This has been fixed. A locked text object could be changed from Paragraph text to Caption text. This has been fixed.
  • Minimizing and Docking Palettes - After minimizing and docking a palette, Canvas would crash when the palette is selected in the Docking bar. This has been fixed.
  • Modifying Bezier Curves and Object Path Editor - With the Object Path Editor open, moving a control handle to modify a Bezier curve would cause the anchor point value to change. This has been fixed.
  • Move Command - After selecting an object and moving it with the Move command, the object’s edit handles would still appear on screen even after deselecting the object. This has been fixed. After moving an object, the object’s X/Y coordinates would not refresh in the Properties bar. This has been fixed.
  • Object Path Editor and Angular Units - In a GIS document, using angular units (decimal degrees) and then saving the path of an object via the Object Path Editor, the path could not be loaded. This has been fixed.
  • Object Selection and Changing Default Ink - After creating an object, changing its fill ink to null, and then deselecting the object, the object would be reselected if you changed the default fill ink to null. This has been fixed.
  • Object Specs palette - While toggling between Position and Dimension (Data tab), the tab was not refreshing so the Keep Proportions checkbox would either appear or disappear. This has been fixed.
  • Opening DWG Files - When opening DWG files, a 0/0 memory error would occur at 95%. This has been fixed.
  • Scale Bar - The font options were not being applied when creating a scale bar. This has been fixed.
  • Scrolling and Push tool - At high magnification, scrolling was not possible if the Push tool was selected. This has been fixed.
  • Searching for Clipart - After copying the clipart to a folder, Canvas would crash after choosing Open Library and selecting the Canvas index file. This has been fixed.
  • Selecting Objects and Hidden Toolbox - After closing the Toolbox, Canvas would crash if an object was selected. This has been fixed.
  • Selecting Dynamic Objects via Symbol Library Dialog Box - While opening a GIS vector file and selecting a dynamic object for point objects in the Symbol Library dialog box, the point objects would not change to the selected dynamic object. This has been fixed.
  • Snap Tangent Option - After creating a circle and choosing the Snap / Tangent option in the context menu, the orientation could be chosen but the line could not be drawn. This has been fixed.
  • Spell Checker - The Canvas Spell Checker would not recognize misspellings. This has been fixed.

Canvas ReviewNo Installation on OS 10.5 - Version: X.0.2, 10/30/2007 11:56PM PST

werfblau
Now it seems to be definitely dead - it does not install on a clean 10.5 OS installation.

It used to be a good product - but right now it's done.

I'm searching for an application in order to be able to read my Canvas documents...
