I have yet to get this software to work correctly since I bought it several months ago. I get kernel panics constantly, buttons disappear, random app freezes, corrupt scan files if I'm lucky to get any out. I've spent many days trying to make it work, tech support's canned responses are of no value and just waste even more of my time. It never works over Firewire on my V700. I used to love this software, thought it was the best, but Snow Leopard and the newer Photoshop versions are not Silverfast's friend. I can scan easily and without a flaw with the Epson scan software and Vuescan, they always see the scanner, they don't freeze and I can get my work done. In its current iteration, I would now say this is the worst Mac software on the face of the earth.
1680 on firewire is so quick it's scary! - Version: 6.4.2r9, 11/6/2005 11:06PM PST

The 1680 on firewire goes faster than anything I've ever seen. Silverfast Ai Studio scans a full A4 page in 15 seconds flat (300 dpi / 200 lpi). I wonder how that compares to a scsi connection. Feedback from scsi users please.

I don't know why people complain about this software. Lasersoft is very responsive, and Silverfast blows away the Epson scan modules. Vuescan has a much steeper learning curve than Silverfast too.
Yeah - rocks in Panther

Using Epson 1680 SCSI w/ Adaptec 2930 SCSI card on G4 867 running Mac OS X 10.3 Panther. Runs well!!!
