Purists beware: This is the binary for the QT Tiles version. The no-tiles tty version is still pending.

(ok real purists would have just compiled the source by now)

"Preferences" work just fine (.nethackrc in your home directory). Always a good day to find 100 some bugs fixed in my favourite game. Such a beast that it has that many, but many won't stop play, unlike a lot of games today. Even my gamecube coredumps once in awhile. At least NetHack can be patched. See you in Gehennom!

NetHack ReviewStill won't save… - Version: 3.4.1, 3/25/2003 12:40PM PST

preferences, even if I create the file described in the NetHack documentation. This was an issue that one of the NetHack people specifically told me had been addressed in this version. Also, the frequent pop-ups are annoying ("you found these items"). Make it as command-line as possible, but keep the graphics.

on how to launch the software? It is in the /usr/game directory but is owned by root. Thanks!

prefer the text-based version of NetHack. It installs easily and runs just fine in a Terminal. If you want a great old-school game, grab Nethack! If you want pretty graphics or have no idea how to launch a program in the Terminal, go and play Bauldar's Gate or something.
