for this functionality in Mac OS (9 or X) for a while now. To make iTunes the application that opens automatically, you need to map the AIFF type to iTunes. Do this by popping in a CD, doing a "show info" on one of the files, and changing the global application.

set as default and it insists on opening quicktime. Crap. Perhaps a set up screen would be more appropriate.
