OK, it looks they are getting their shit together.

Al least I only had to pay for this once, where as Speed Download charged me for version 3 then version 4, and now wants my to pay for version 5, no thanks. AND nothing has changed, just the version number.

I'm back to using iGetter. The application starts up twice as fast as Speed Download and has way faster downloads.

It even reacts faster when called upon, do your own bench test, you'll see.

iGetter Troubleshooting ReportReally DODGY iGetter behaviour I mean STRANGE - Version: 2.6.1, 6/1/2007 11:43AM PST

If I leave my browser open (firefox on an Apple Mac) and leave my computer alone for an hour or so, iGetter launches itself?! I come back to find it's launched itself and downloaded a s***load of odd files.

It's often just html php bin and xml files - they just land in my downloads folder and contain no relevant data.

It's really odd. I use it with the FlashGot plugin for Firefox, but no settings can explain why my Mac suddenly chooses to download a list of different files at random. I'm uninstalling this *censored* NOW.

iGetter ReviewCouldn't download files or deactivate iGetter - Version: 2.6.1, 5/12/2007 11:25PM PST

iGetter [free version] for a few thing was extremely fast - I'm talking about 1200 kps! Seriously.
BUT when I placed an online order for and upgrade to Peak Pro 5 and got to the download page, there were big problems. iGetter showed it was trying to download, but Status just showed "waiting" and so after a few attempts I quit iGetter, having turned off Auto first. But then, firefox 2.003 kept opening iGetter and transferring the attempted download to it. Even when I moved iGetter to the trash [ without emptying it] Firefox or my Mac still opened it to try to download with it! I finally uninstalled iGetter, using the uninstaller that they provide. Only then could I download my newly paid for software.

My conclusion is that iGetter has a lot of potential but some big bugs. Maybe I'll try the Speed Download shareware once I lose my fear from being burnt once.

OK, I read about some loop stuff, stop buttons, closing pages and whatever. Is the "bug" fixed yet. Yes, I called it a bug. A bug is when there is something wrong with an application that prevents it from working right. So if I download Vuescan or SuperDuper, is the loop fixed or whatever the claim is. Will it download just like Speed Download? That means will it work right. Firefox 2.0.0.3 Mac OS 10.4.9

iGetter Usage TipCareful - it disables Safari's Contextual Menus - Version: 2.5, 1/18/2007 04:18PM PST

After installing iGetter, I couldn't download any files on Safari using my tried-and-true method of using Contextual Menus.

In fact, I couldn't figure out how to download any files and get them to go where I wanted them.

I realized my problem (with some help from browsing various forums) and dumped iGetter from Libraries. It may be a good product, but not for someone like me.

If there is a way to use it (1) easy, (2) fast, and (3) efficiently, I don't know it. And because it stopped me from doing ANY downloading until I disabled it, it cost me some time and frustration.

I admit I don't know the first thing about Download Managers, except for having a vague hope they could speed up multiple downloads. This program, like all the others I've tried to use, don't come with any guides to their use.

If you're like me, good luck.

OK, now I'm pissed. I just tried to download SuperDuper and walked away from my computer leaving iGetter downloading it. When I came back, I had over 300 disk images of SuperDuper on my desktop. I'm going to use AppZapper to gut this iGetter crap from my computer. I'm going back to SpeedDownload, they might be a little slower but at least they fixed the bug that keeps downloading one copy after another of certain apps. iGetter was a real waste of money. These guys not only won't fix that simple bug, they won't claim that there is a bug. You guys are REALLY lame. I want a refund.

iGetter ReviewGet on the ball guys - Version: 2.5, 7/8/2006 04:58PM PST

I own SpeedDownload and iGetter. I used to get download speeds of about 360kbs on speeddownload at it's best. With iGetter, I got as much as 702kbs. The average on iGetter is 460 to 580kbs. There is one small problem. There are a couple apps on version tracker that won't play nice. One is Vuescan. When I click to download it, it keeps downloading one copy after another, and WON'T STOP using iGetter. SpeedDownload had the same problem, but they fixed it right away after I told them about it. I told iGetter about it and they said that it doesn't do it for them, so they never fixed it. They are clearly lying. Maybe you guys should talk to speeddownload. I'm sure it's just a problem with the Vuescan people, but if speeddownload can fix it, WELL H E L L O !!!

My Quad G5 upgrade has arrived. I gave up "clone" ideas since I didn't want to carry my rare and weird problems to brand new machine.

As a versiontracker plus user, I got 40 software titles in my download card. By hope and pray, I selected all and clicked "download" from that page.

It is downloading all now, 2 at a time, with a great queue and doesn't have a single glitch/crash on a very rare Mac configuration.

What can I want more?

Well, bittorrent support in future maybe? :)

I've owned Speed download now for a while and went through all the pains until thet got it right. I tried iGetter and it seemed to open faster and the downloads seemed a bit faster sometimes, so I bought this. Then I find out that this has the same bug that Speed Download had but they fixed it. When I download VueScan from version tracker, it keeps downloading one copy after another. If I don't quit iGetter my desktop will be full of VueScan copies and NEVER stop. Fix it OK. One other thing, loose that stupid window that opens before iGetter opens. I thought that would be gone if I paid for it.
