iGetter ReviewFantastic Downloader, and now 64bit Safari compatible! - Version: 2.8, 12/6/2009 01:49AM PST

Paradoxial
I've used and loved iGetter for a long time; one of the few shareware programs I've been more than willing to pay for, especially given how much time it has saved me. Unlike many other accelerators, iGetter doesn't harass me with unnecessary options while also showing clear improvements in download time.

With this update, contextual menu support is returned to Safari 64bit, the one feature I sorely missed ever since upgrading to Snow Leopard. I wouldn't be caught downloading anything from anywhere without iGetter, so it does my heart good to see it's still being maintained and kept up to date with the latest tech.

Totally worth the money. And should you have access to a dedicated file server (an HTTP based newsgroup server, perhaps?), then its value skyrockets into "you can't do without".

OK, it looks they are getting their shit together.

Al least I only had to pay for this once, where as Speed Download charged me for version 3 then version 4, and now wants my to pay for version 5, no thanks. AND nothing has changed, just the version number.

I'm back to using iGetter. The application starts up twice as fast as Speed Download and has way faster downloads.

It even reacts faster when called upon, do your own bench test, you'll see.

If I leave my browser open (firefox on an Apple Mac) and leave my computer alone for an hour or so, iGetter launches itself?! I come back to find it's launched itself and downloaded a s***load of odd files.

It's often just html php bin and xml files - they just land in my downloads folder and contain no relevant data.

It's really odd. I use it with the FlashGot plugin for Firefox, but no settings can explain why my Mac suddenly chooses to download a list of different files at random. I'm uninstalling this *censored* NOW.
