PiXel Check ReviewStill indispensible, still working with OS X 10.5.8 - Version: 1.2, 10/28/2009 03:20PM PST

What a simple, joyous tool! lt's free and, despite being several years old, it's working perfectly well on a 10.5.8 system (have not yet tried it on 10.6.x). Don't hesitate to download and use it to check for bad pixels, it's a winner.

PiXel Check ReviewHelped me find immediately out of box a dead pixel... - Version: 1.2, 1/14/2008 04:20AM PST

Just got hold of a 2707 WFP and guess what, out of box (about where the "o" in the word box is on my screen right now) is a dead pixel, well actually stuck on RED. Time to make a call, and send it back. Sad, but 1100 and out of box a dead pixel. This app helps out a LOT, and is super simple to use.

PiXel Check ReviewNice tool, does one thing, does it perfectly - Version: 1.2, 2/2/2007 08:26PM PST

I wanted to test out my new Dell 2407WFP display. Worked flawlessly on 10.4.8/Intel. I had to go to the developer's site to get the file as VT's download link brought down a corrupt file. No bad pixels BTW.

PiXel Check Troubleshooting ReportFile not unix-executable - Version: 1.2, 12/8/2005 01:46PM PST

The program will not open when I double click it. I found out why. The supposedly executable unix file "/PUTPARENTDIRECTORYHERE/PiXel Check V1.2/PiXel Check V1.2.app/Contents/MacOS/PiXel Check" does not have the correct permissions set. I used Terminal and issued the command "chmod 755 'PiXel Check'" after reaching the appropriate directory. After that, all was fine. Developer: fix the problem, please. Using 10.4.3 (Tiger) on a 2003 Powerbook G4.

PiXel Check ReviewMagic, sheer MAGIC - Version: 1.2, 11/21/2005 04:52AM PST

(1 of 2 users found this comment useful)

Andreas..

This morning I noticed a small square of white pixels on my screen (iMac G4 800, 17" LCD). I tried gentle massage with a soft cloth - no help. I downloaded Pixel Check just to see if it would give me some extra info about the problem. I unstuffed the .sit file, opened the folder and was just about to dbl-klik on the app when I noticed that THE WHITE PIXELS HAD GONE and were back to normal. That's an amazing app - no need to even run it - its presence was enough to scare my screen back to acceptable behaviour. If that ain't MAGIC... ;=)

Does what it's supposed to do ... and free. What else can you ask for? Thanks for verifying that my display doesn't have a single defect/stuck pixel 8^)

Tried with 10.3.7, ran without problems.

PiXel Check CommentaryWorks with 10.3 - Version: 1.2, 10/28/2003 09:55PM PST

Mayhem!
I have been getting some E-mail about troubles with PiXel Check running under 10.2.8... It seems that the StuffIt Engine 8.0 (for some weird reason) is causing the trouble. If you update to 8.0.1, the problem seems to go away. Finally, I fully tested PiXel Check 1.2 with Panther, and it works just fine!
