Product Description:

Quitling is a Menu Extra that can instantly quit running applications or processes, with or without their consent. Whenever a program has crashed, been launched by mistake or just needs to disappear as quickly as possible, Quitling does the job. In addition, it can automatically quit applications started by accident or relaunch applications that have crashed or quit. To top it off, Quitling also doubles as a Mac OS 9-style application switcher.

What's new in this version:

  • Quitling is now a Menu Extra rather than a Dockling
  • Settings are now managed from within System Preferences
  • The Quitling menu now sports icons and a more logical item grouping
  • Quitling can now be used as a Mac OS 9-style application switcher

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.2
  • Mac OS X 10.1

Additional Requirements:

  • Mac OS X 10.1 or higher

Quitling CommentaryThat said, this should be cheaper - Version: 2.1.1, 12/20/2006 07:26AM PST

Cowicide
This should be about $5 for what it does. $10 is too steep.

Quitling ReviewGreat with xGestures - Version: 2.1.1, 8/3/2006 05:16AM PST

Cowicide
I stripped it all down to just be an app switcher that pops with an xGesture in any app or the Finder. It perfect for that, but it uses more CPU than what I would expect for such a small task. I love the options that you have with it, but I think the UI could be better if you could hover over apps then have options pop up from perhaps a rollrover to its side that could allow for quitting, force quitting, hiding, etc... that way you don't have to use the keyboard.

Quitling ReviewWorks fine in Panther - Version: 2.1.1, 6/12/2005 10:49PM PST

I have Quitling working fine in Panther, without any need to update the Menucracker resource. It is quicker to use this rather than Force Quit - when a log out hangs or you simply want to quickly remove a lot of open apps. It is also a quick an easy way to see what is running - not easy in a full, minutuarised dock, and invaluable for quickly finding and opening rarely used programmes. I hope it is upgraded (should it be necessary) to run on Tiger too.
