Keyspan Digital Media Remote ReviewWoowee! - Version: 1.7b4, 6/9/2004 10:58PM PST

FINALLY, after much complaining to Keyspan, they finally fixed the volume controls. Back to 5-stars for fixing the problem. This little device is killer when combined with QuicKeys X. I'm loving it again (all over again). Thanks Keyspan for restoring my faith.

Keyspan Digital Media Remote ReviewThis product is SO bad... - Version: 1.6, 5/23/2004 01:12PM PST

that I deinstalled it, and replaced it with an ATI Remote Wonder. I've never looked back. I contacted the Keyspan folks numerous times via email, and directly at Macworld Expo's to no avail. The product just doesn't work. Well... it works a little... but not enough to keep trying. The ATI product is flawless, and can be had for $30-$45.

Keyspan Digital Media Remote Troubleshooting ReportCycle button (Command-Tab) frustrations! - Version: 1.7b4, 5/23/2004 08:47AM PST

It's great that they finally fixed the global volume buttons to work like they should. But there's still the problem with the Cycle Button (Command-Tab) to switch between running applications. It's nearly impossible to get it to stop on the application you want. It scrolls by so fast when you hold down the button! And if you try to advance one press at a time, it only switches between the current and last application selected. I've tried adjusting the delay and repeats but it has no effect. Anyone else figure out a solution? Otherwise a great product!

Keyspan Digital Media Remote ReviewA really nice product - Version: 1.7b4, 5/23/2004 08:14AM PST

While the software isn't quite totally Mac-like, the product works very well. I use it to act as a button on my scanner, since my scanner button doesn't work with VueScan.

Volume control is now definitely back to normal, and everything else seems to be working fine. It took way too long to fix, but at least they did it.

There is a new beta driver, V1.7b4, and this at last fixes the volume problems. I have been using it now for a short while, and see no problems yet.

You can download it from their driver page, underneath the main driver link.

Amake... thank you. Now at least they publicly admit to the problem... let's see where this leads to.

Keyspan Digital Media Remote ReviewVolume problem is now "known issue" - Version: 1.6, 5/3/2004 04:57PM PST

I just got a response to my bug report about the volume key problem. According to this page they now (as of today!) consider this to be a known issue. I guess that's progress.

Other than the volume key issue, I've found my Keyspan DMR to be a very nice gadget. I bought it for a presentation I have to give two days from now. Hopefully it will pass the test.

Keyspan Digital Media Remote ReviewKeyspan and the state of the driver - Version: 1.6, 4/20/2004 02:47PM PST

I talked with a Keyspan tech at length yesterday, and here's what I was told: They have yet to reproduce the problems on one of their machines. This, to me is totally unbelieveable. They must have a house full of incredibly magic machines....I was told they are aware of the volume problem, but unsure how to fix it, because they cant reproduce the problem. They have figured out that it seems to have something to do with machines that have been upgraded from 10.0-10.2. I will lay this theory to rest right now. I put a brand new off the shelf drive in my computer before I put Panther on it. There was NOTHING on the drive - it doesn't have anything to do with upgraded machines. They said they really need to get an affected machine in house to look at, so I'll make this plea: If anyone lives in the Oakland or San Francisco area and has a machine with this problem, PLEASE take it in to Keyspan and let them look at it. I'll even send you gas money. What I gathered was that it sounds like they are in over the heads of the programmers on this one. If there was another solution out there for a wireless programmable 15-17 button remote control, I would immediately rush to it, hug it tightly, and buy it, but there isn't that I know of.
