Product Description:

TransparentDock is a script that allows customization of the Mac OS X dock. The dock can be made fully transparent, fully opaque, or something in between. Custom pdf background images can be applied to the current dock, or used in conjunction with the selected transparency or opacity settings. A built-in reset option allows returning the dock to its original state.

New in Version 1.5:
  • AppleScript scripting additions are no longer required for automatic mode in Mac OS X 10.1. Mac OS X 10.0.x & the additional customization options (dock shadow, translucent icons for hidden apps...) in Mac OS X 10.1 still require an OS X scripting addition
  • Drag & drop installation of scripting additions (installed in ~/Library/ScriptingAdditions)
  • New patch no longer requires pdf removal for full transparency
  • Option to apply custom pdf background images
  • Option to change the shade of triangles for all open apps to gray or white (10.1 only)
Please Note: If you've run a previous version of the script to make the dock transparent, the dock must be reset to its original state before running TransparentDock 1.5. This can be done by selecting the "Reset Dock" option in the previous version of TransparentDock, or by running the "DockReset" script to replace the current dock with your original backup copy

What's new in this version:

  • Adds support for passwords with non-alphanumeric characters
  • Drag & drop support for DockReset script
  • Fixed a few minor bugs involving system version checks (drag & drop only) and interface elements.

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.2
  • Mac OS X 10.1
  • Mac OS X 10.0

Additional Requirements:

  • Mac OS X 10.0 or higher
  • Choice of scripting additions (recommended, see ReadMe):
'System' osax, or 'OS X Power Additions Lite'

You can replace the dock.app in System/Library/CoreServices/dock.app with the dock.app tweaked by Transparent Dock. Don't forget to make a backup of the original dock.app, in case it doesn't work for you.. I did it and it works for me. I'm using OSX 10.4.11. Good luck.

TransparentDock CommentaryOne last update to support 10.4.11... - Version: 2.3.9, 11/14/2007 03:18PM PST

I'm not sure if the developer will read these comments but I'd sure appreciate one last revision to support 10.4.11 (with Safari 3 etc.) for old times sake.

I purchased a license for Transparent Dock a while back and unfortunately I feel a little let down with the lack of support over the past few system updates. It'd be nice to have one last update to support what will be the final tiger update.

Please.

TransparentDock Review10.4.11 (with Safari 3) kills Transparent Dock 2.3.9 - Version: 2.3.9, 11/14/2007 02:22PM PST

As dreaded, Mac OSX 10.4.11 kills TD 2.3.9. 10.4.11 contains Safari 3, which is known to change dock characteristics that render TD unusable.

To the developer: Your product was always the best, I loved that you did it without doing illegal commands the way haxies do. I realize this may be the end of the line for TD in its current form, but I always looked forward to using your product, and Thank You for all the development you did do for us all these years. You were(are) the best gui enhancement, and I always appreciated you.
