TransparentDock Usage TipReplace dock.app - Version: 2.3.9, 4/1/2008 02:58AM PST

You can replace the dock.app in System/Library/CoreServices/dock.app with the dock.app tweaked by Transparent Dock. Don't forget to make a backup of the original dock.app, in case it doesn't work for you.. I did it and it works for me. I'm using OSX 10.4.11. Good luck.

TransparentDock CommentaryOne last update to support 10.4.11... - Version: 2.3.9, 11/14/2007 03:18PM PST

I'm not sure if the developer will read these comments but I'd sure appreciate one last revision to support 10.4.11 (with Safari 3 etc.) for old times sake.

I purchased a license for Transparent Dock a while back and unfortunately I feel a little let down with the lack of support over the past few system updates. It'd be nice to have one last update to support what will be the final tiger update.

Please.

TransparentDock Review10.4.11 (with Safari 3) kills Transparent Dock 2.3.9 - Version: 2.3.9, 11/14/2007 02:22PM PST

As dreaded, Mac OSX 10.4.11 kills TD 2.3.9. 10.4.11 contains Safari 3, which is known to change dock characteristics that render TD unusable.

To the developer: Your product was always the best, I loved that you did it without doing illegal commands the way haxies do. I realize this may be the end of the line for TD in its current form, but I always looked forward to using your product, and Thank You for all the development you did do for us all these years. You were(are) the best gui enhancement, and I always appreciated you.

Since earlier feedback posts have been pushed down off the main feedback page, I'd like to remind people that they can get most of the same options with ClearDock, which doesn't break when Safari Beta 3, Keyboard Update, etc. are installed. It uses a different approach than TransparentDock--if the programmer for TransparentDock keeps using the same approach, it might always break when Apple updates certain things.

One thing you don't get in ClearDock, that you get in TransparentDock, is the ability to increase the Dock's font size.

TransparentDock CommentaryAluminium Keyboard - Version: 2.3.9, 9/9/2007 11:27PM PST

The new Apple Keyboard (yes, the sexy thin aluminium one) also breaks Transparent Dock. I purchased it for my older Quad G5 and had to install 'Keyboard Software Update 1.1' to get the new function keys and features enabled. This update kills transparent dock so if you plan to upgrade to the new keyboard you'll need to get used to the default dock :o(

I have to say I agree with the fact that I do not understand why a browser has anything to do with this application. However, it obviously does. I have had no other issues with the Safari beta personally. I love this software and am super bummed every time I look at my dock. I started hiding it. Guess I will check out the clear dock haxie and see what happens. Hope the developer can fix this, I would even pay a little bit for this software. Great work! PLEASE get a fix for Safari 3 users!

TransparentDock Usage TipWorks through 10.4.10 (PPC) - Version: 2.3.9, 7/9/2007 10:08AM PST

Took the plunge and tested it myself: TD 2.3.9 indeed works with BOTH 10.4.9 AND 10.4.10 (PPC).

I'm steering clear of the Safari 3 beta, though.

I've been thinking about the safari/camino issue. Why in the world would that make a difference in transparentdock as to what browser you are using? It should NOT have anything to do with your browser. I have Safari 2.0.4 and it is working and was when I had 10.4.9 and now on 10.4.10.

TransparentDock CommentaryDock on Safari/Camino - Version: 2.3.9, 7/4/2007 05:57AM PST

I apologize for the misinformation. I use Camino almost exclusively and 10.4.9 and 10.4.10 work just fine with transparentdock on there. I didn't realize you were talking about the Beta Safari. I rarely use it anymore.
