AppleWorks X Troubleshooting ReportCrashes OS 10.6.1 - Version: 6.2.9, 11/10/2009 12:41PM PST

rplaut--2008
Doesn't like Snow Leopard. I have to constantly save my work because as sure a god made little green apples, Appleworks will just quit.

Don't know why. Guess that's why Apple wants you to use iWorks. Rosseta just doesn't translate PPC code for an intel Mac very well.

Problem with that is; There's no draw/paint function.

My date format has too many commas; i.e., October, 21, 2006. Is there a fix for this?

AppleWorks X Troubleshooting ReportHere is the link for the International version update - Version: 6.2.9, 7/20/2006 06:54AM PST

Hi guys,

I can see that may people seem to struggle to get the right version to update Apple 6, I did make the mistake as well to follow the version tracker link "blindly" and wasted 16MB of download and precious time as it did not work!
...Could not find it; so it says!!

Here is the right place where you will find the suitable International version amongst others that may suits your needs if you have installed a "non English" version for exemple:

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=120213

I hope this will help some of you!

As far as the update being that bad, slow, and all the nasty things I have read........I am sorry (but very happy!!!) to say that the update went very well and the program does not freeze or give som much trouble so far!

I run OSX 10.4.7 on both my Power PC G4 laptop 17 inch (1500MB Memory) and my eMac with 750MB Memory and all works well.

I am not saying that any glitch does not ever happens on my 2 machines............but gee guys, have you forgotten already what it is to work on Windows?
...Maybe, just maybe some of us are too spoiled and expect too much from Apple Mac! They are, after all, not perfect but do deliver in general products of good quality and good value for Money; let alone the pleasure to work computers and software that usualy works well without having to spend more time fixing the computers.........than actually working on it!!

Don't be too radical and ungratefull..........and check your machine properly; who knows the blame for the faulty program might not be where you think it is....

Ps: I do not work for Apple Mac; and I am just a busy General Manager of an hotel where I do most if not all the daily task on computers myself. This is why I enjoy running Mac to get the job done........and fast!

Happy computing to all!

Jean-Michel.

Appleworks 6.2.9 was released in January 2004, and Appleworks 6 was first released in March 2000. It's a six-year-old product. Of course it isn't going to have the features you would expect in a recent Mac app.

One of the main reasons I open this application is to view microsoft word files created in Windows. However, mostly it even fails to open those! It just says it "can't open the file ''".

All seems well until for no apparent reason Apple Works sc rambles your file(s).

Do not go here, do not use it until Apple gets these basic problems fixed.

An app that never should've been, could've been, but never would've been as Apple's/Claris' half-hearted unworthy effort(s) produced a mutation of app never good at anything. Please, please, please, Apple put this app to rest for the sake of software.

AppleWorks X Troubleshooting ReportSlow, Slow and even slower to a stop for a few seconds. - Version: 6.2.9, 5/4/2005 02:24PM PST

Slow, Slow and even slower to a stop for a few seconds.

I’ve had this ongoing problem since day one with this version of Appleworks. Understand I’ve been using Appleworks since before ClarisWorks and now Appleworks again. Simply put It must be conflicting with something as it happened with only my main user (me). I reinstalled Appleworks, the OS and even at one point removed all non associated fonts. Finally, despite numerous calls to Apple on the subject - there has been no remedy to this problem.

Simply put it’s 1) slow to open. 2) Using the find CMD, it pauses with one letter at a time showing up at 2 second intervals. 3)Typing pauses every so often the all of a sudden catches up. Pages freeze every so often and cant me moved or dragged. Appleworks is my main WP. Sadly I’ve come to live with it as it is also my main player in web design. I use Appleworks WP saving in html and adding code afterwards as needed. I feel like a jilted lover.

I realize most users will not have this problem but if you do you will get a little distraught as there is no cure, at least that Apple knows about.
