Ogg Drop ReviewAlso new in this version... - Version: 1.0b5, 10/16/2006 08:27AM PST

Google ads. Oh well, only moderately annoying, and I guess better than making it shareware. Although, along with the ads, you'd think they'd add a way to close the info window. You'd think, and you'd be wrong.

But despite these two quibbles, this remains a free and easy way to get your CDs into the smallest and best sounding ogg format. So, it still gets used by me.

if it does what it advertises. there is no opensource freeware solution that you can install for osx that doesn't require a phd in computer science except this one. i don't know how to use freedb, at least on 1.0b4 it is not working automatically and there doesn't appear to be a button for it. I also am having trouble with the download for 1.0, because i am getting "failed to mount" errors on my g4. oh well, i guess i have to keep using windows to rip my cds, buggers.

the lack of cancel-buttons and close-widgets is kinda ridiculous. this should be fixed ASAP.

This program is awful. It lacks Cancel buttons in some of it's popup windows, leaving me no option but to force quit to protect against changing settings (the Storage slider, for example). The interface is counterintuitive and it lacks very basic functionality (like resizing the main window).

Not worth the download.

surprised that there's a Vorbis encoder that works in Jaguar. And also pleasantly surprised that it includes CDDB support. And again, pleasantly surprised that it's free. Some of you guys are pretty hard on freeware, don't 'cha think? I say great job!

the heart of the whole issue. If somebody got off their ass to make an Ogg-player, it would be much cheaper because they wouldn't have to license the technology - Fraunhofer have gotten as far as they have mainly because of the RIAA whining in the press and MP3 being the only ripping format available at the time. I think superior standards and not marketing should be the basis of what's available on the market... but the market sucks phat prunes, so guess why rabid open source maniacs (myself included) are the only people using this. And Ogg-drop happens to be what's out there, because iTunes still doesn't openly support this format and the Quicktime plugin sucks. However, I recommed that you stay at a great distance from Ogg Vorbis even in the future, lest we bite you. :p

it deeply, i can tell that CDDB tag support is not working. Tracks are tagged randomly, well this is a pure garbage. Encoder -> 5 stars, CDDB support -> 0 stars

Ogg Drop ReviewThis is great… - Version: 1.0b3, 9/21/2002 09:58AM PST

encoder, quality is really good. But there is a bad point here, CDDB tag needs to be improved, most of CDs are not correctly tagged while they're tagged correctly via itunes or N2MP3 Ripper, and this is a big problem. We need a REAL CDDB support!!!
