Product Description:

Picture Play is an application for creating compositions of many images. It is basically an electronic collage. You can use it to incorporate multiple images into a single artistic image, and add editable text layers as well.

What's new in this version:

  • Totally rewritten preferences system eliminates some nagging bugs, is more robust, and allows for future enhancements
  • New 'Open Recent' menu added which stores the last ten opened documents for quick access
  • Object resize handles slightly repositioned and outlined with border colour to ensure visibility
  • Alert icons updated to reflect OS X 10.1 interface changes
  • Maximum magnification increased to 6400%
  • 'Open...' menu item is now smarter, it adds image objects if an image file is selected etc.
  • Windows no longer disappear if magnification causes maximum width to be larger than 32767 pixels
  • Palette locations are properly saved
  • Many elusive and rare bugs fixed by new preferences system

$10 anymore, but it seems like the product isn't what it was, either, so that is reasonable. Why, I wonder if we have seen a mini-Photoshop being born? Add a few tools and an option to change the resolution, for instance, and it really begins to look interesting. As it is, it is quite useful for people who do not have Photoshop but want to create something out of their photos etc. I don't think the description is misleading anymore. You can make an image from many tiny ones, or reduce larger ones and add them in layers. You can create some nice effects just by playing with the translucency, colours and tolerance and collages are no match. Interesting to see what will come out of this in the future...
