Product Description:

Wouldn't it be great if you could delete unwanted e-mail or spam BEFORE it reaches your e-mail application? Or delete messages with large attachments without downloading them to your computer first? Or get rid of viruses sent by PC users?
Well, POPmonitor lets you do just that!
With POPmonitor you can take a peek inside your mailbox and delete unwanted e-mail without the need to download those messages first. Just login, select the unwanted messages and click Delete. It's as simple as that.
You can also automate the removal of unwanted messages by creating lists of trusted and blocked senders and by creating custom filters based on several criteria. Another option is to bounce messages right back to their sender to simulate a non-existing e-mail address.
Other e-mail applications only filter spam after downloading it first. But thanks to POPmonitor you can get rid of spam and other unwanted e-mail before it reaches your e-mail application.
From now on you will be in control of your mailbox again!

What's new in this version:

  • Improved filter processing speed
  • Improved reporting when errors occur during the bounce procedure
  • Added spacebar as keyboard shortcut to initiate the checking procedure
  • Updated filter examples
  • Updated various sections of the User Guide
  • Fixed bug where some AT&T subscribers would not be able to delete messages
  • Fixed bug where dragging e-mail addresses to a text file and then dragging them back to POPmonitor would give incorrect results

POPmonitor CommentaryWhat can replace POPmonitor? Developer not updating. - Version: 2.1.3, 8/25/2007 09:04AM PST

I registered POPmonitor years ago, and I'm also very concerned that the developer has abandoned it. I'm afraid it's only a matter of time before it will no longer be compatible with future versions of OS X.

What concerns me the most is that the developer is keeping his website updated with copyright info dated 2007 and claims that it's compatible with Intel Macs, but the latest version of POPmonitor, 2.1.3, was released in 2003. That's 4 years already!

While POPmonitor does run on Intel Macs, it only does so only by using Rosetta. The developer's website, including his FAQ page, has no reference of whether he will upgrade POPmonitor to be natively compatible with Intel Macs which further leads me to believe he has no intentions of doing so.

I love POPmonitor, but I need to find a replacement for it. Does anyone know of an application that does the same basic thing and has an active developer?

POPmonitor CommentaryAbandoned? - Version: 2.1.3, 4/20/2007 01:03AM PST

slowburn--2008
i purchased PopMonitor quite a while ago (2004) and inquired a little later about a feature (showing multiple accounts in a single window), which was supposed to be part of a future release. Too bad not a single new release has been offered since then - not even a universal binary compiled version that would run without Rosetta on an Intel Mac.
Has this project been abandoned?
