Use this program with the "Space Wars 3D" screensaver from Useless Creations at http://www.uselesscreations.com/mac/spacewars/

if you like Sci-Fi, you'll LOVE having this on your computer!

Boy, some people are just too cheap. If you can afford a computer AND internet access, then you can easily afford this, if you like what it does.

This is a wonderful product which will enliven your desktop. I have traded e-mails with the author and he is a fine chap. Very responsive to inquiries and open to *constructive* criticism. I very much enjoy it and will get more from it than a trip to the cinema. However, be forewarned that you may be running other programs which may interfere with this program's operation. I used the Camouflage program to keep my desktop clear but the two programs are not compatible, there may be others.

Say what you want! The FREE STUFF WORKS!!! Why should I PAY YOU for a FREE product that rocks more than yours! You may be some ROCKET SCIENTIST that uses you computer for super processing but us regular guys sometimes just want neat stuff for our MAC (that cost more than windows!) CHEW ON THAT! (I just HATE guys who bash good people!)

Anyone who is seriously trying to compare xBack to the command line trick ( or even to the unsupported free alertnatives ) is a moron. Try the command line trick for a week then try the xBack way. You'll notice MASSIVE usability differences. On top of that, xBack is consistently updated for each os revision. All of xBacks "free" competition has languished. You get what you pay for in life. You want to open a terminal window to run the screen saver on the desktop - go for it. Just have enough common courtesy to not flood this forum with uninformed opinion.

Why buy? free apps-a-plenty for this.. My favorite is WallSaver:

or use good 'ol command line.

whoever it is who pays 10 bucks for this - no matter if that persons uses a mac since 1984, is a direct blood-brother of steve jobs or similar - is an idiot. the post of the developer (2 threads further down) is the most ridiculous crap i have ever read "terminal trick - gimme a break" - people like you make standard mac users so much afraid about a most simple terminal-command (ever tried to google about it? will give you thousands of free options to accomplish this "trick"). but that's not even the point, almost all the below mentioned apps make your "PC-friends" jealous - they still work. and all this for free. please don't try to make people think this very, very basic "trick" needs a daily update, system maintanance or something like that. it is a lie and you know it. maybe with 10.5 or 10.6 some code will need to be reconsidered but not untill then.

10 bucks - gimme a break!

Ten bucks - can't afford it - stop eating pizza for a day or two and, as has been said, get off your lazy arses and do something better. I wrote the guys at Gideon about a small glitch and the VERY NEXT DAY, they had a fix for everyone. Show me another software developer that is that responsive. None of this, "Gosh, we are so busy that we will get to that in a revision or two." Like most good things Apple - It just works. Thanks guys - I love the bundle, too. And durn well worth it! As I have said for longer than I want to really admit, I like Apple products because I can use the tool, I don't have to design it every time I want to tun it on. This is one of those tools. If I could give you ten stars I would.
