Product Description:

Opera is a standards-compliant Web browser for Windows, Unix, Mac, QNX, Symbian, OpenBSD and several other operating systems. Opera gives you a better Internet experience with its combination of speed, unique features, and keyboard shortcuts.

Opera for Mac is available for free in an ad-sponsored version, or without the ads through a paid registration. It offers Mac-specific features such as keychain access in forms and a cookie manager. It is also the first Mac browser to be available as a shared library. Application developers can now include the Opera shared library inside their applications.

What's new in this version:

  • Denied write-access to properties on objects from scripts that fail a standard origin check, in order to block potential access by attackers to user's computer. Fixes critical vulnerability reported in GreyMagic Security Advisory GM#008-OP.
  • Fixed security issue regarding spoofing of the addressfield by loading other page contents while keeping the URL, reported in Secunia Advisory SA12162.
  • Blocked access to file:/ URLs from documents that are not themselves loaded from file:/ URLs.
  • Fixed problem with canceling connections/downloads.
  • Cache-size limitation improved.

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.3
  • Mac OS X 10.2
  • Mac OS X 10.1

Opera ReviewCannot Log in to Credit Card Sits - Version: 9.61, 10/22/2008 03:47PM PST

The only reason that I am not using Opera as my default browser is that I cannot access my credit card information on www.citicards.com. The log in page does not accept any inputs; I therefore cannot log in.

No problem with other https:// sites I use such as Fidelity.

Opera ReviewA very good browser! - Version: 9.5.2, 8/21/2008 08:03AM PST

Amazingly fast, stable and secure. More Mac-like than ever before. I'm giving it a shot as my default browser. I've used OPERA for the past four years and 9.5.2 is the best to date! BTW, some of OP's features take some getting use to. (I've been testing 9.5.x as betas for a couple of months.)

I have previously reviewed this software. I am reviewing it again based on overall performance, security, and stability.not preference.
First like Firefox, and Camino, this bowser is "rock solid secure" does not crash, and hs built in "handicapped features" not found in the "big guys" Deleting "old preferences" will cure your fears. Second, it has a built in mail client, and alerts are given me,when I receive a message or a blocked pop up. This holds true for sent messages as well.
This is the only browser with a "bit torrent client; what about the big guys?
Also it is not a memory hog; I have ussd this browser in my classic time, and spent $40 dollars; it is now free.
Those of you complaining about it's looks, download a skin to make it look like the browser of your choice, Netscape, IE, Camino, Safari; look for yourself don't post something which I have found correct. Yes all reviews seem to be based on prefeence; would it not be wise to be objective?
Lastly, rather than store the paasswords in the keychain, it has a Wand Manager for passwords. I cant find an issue with a browser remembering passwords in it's own database for security purposes.
Please change the user agent for sites I am reading that Opra will not display; it has no problem in recognizing a bank site I vist, but Safari does have a peoblem.
